Stronghold is soo fun, it's RTS-like, but with the added bonus of castle/town building, which adds another layer of strategy; there's quite a range of units, like fire ballistas and siege towers, so figuring out how to use them best can be fun.

It's not all war, though, there are also economic scenarios, like where you just castle/town build to make cheese and booze for your Lord; there's some fighting where you have to defend against thieves.

Or! You can freebuild - no enemies, nothing, just make an awesome castle and thriving town :D

I haven't played the Lord games, so can't say.
