ZPavelZ: Really? Where did you get that info from?

Sachys: either the fallout promo thread or the xmas sale promo thread
And that was from blue guys? Why I am so amazed is because I have thought GOG would honor it's "sales" (even free ones) and let people redeem their codes whenever they like to (as there is no official expiration terms for those afaik).
I'm pretty sure they would. I remember reading that they suggested getting it for friends, even if you had it already yourself. I get the feeling they'll work even into next year when GOG has to stop selling the Fallout games.

its pretty simple: if the game is not on sale, then they do not have a product to exchange for your code (which is essentially what happens).
whislt codes redeemed prior to the withdrawl of the games will maintain the game on your shelf for download!

I thought gift codes expired after one year? TET commented on that recently.
I think this thread clears up the issue.

The Fallout games might be an exception, but I think people have said they say "Valid indefinitely" when you enter the code, so there shouldn't be an expiration. I could be wrong, though.

usually, but like i said, if they dont have a licence to sell / distribute the game anymore, then all they can do if honour cloud backup of a product you already have on your account.
of course a deal ay be reached to secure the games... but who knows?!

well, as i remember when XIII got pulled it was the same and the codes had to be redeemed before the end.

Edit: of course if the gift codes are redeemable then thats a good thing for those with a sapre or two to give away, but I've no doubt the trade markets will be chock full of keys for sale to exploit that loophole - so it wouldn't be a good thing.

I wonder though. If you have a key it's a purchase. Even if in this case they key was $0.0 it still counts as a purchase.

For example if you paid $9.99 for a gift and got a key then they removed the game from sales. You would expect to still be able to redeem the key as you purchased it.

Same rules should follow it's just that the game was dirt cheap!

I recall that people did XIII giveaways after the game was pulled from the store.

Plus, the thread I provided has a link to confirmation directly from support that 16-digit codes do not expire.

he's talking about special promo codes that they give away from time to time which let you select any game having expiration date, regular gift orders with 16 digit codes don't have expiration dates.

I honestly am confused myself on catalog removals too, since you get conflicting information. Some people say the codes are still good, and you have people fishing around in the classifieds from time to time for older removed games, and I've seen a few post removal XIII giveaways (although I didn't pay any attention to them).

Though it isn't unreasonable to assume that they would try to limit it a bit more strictly when they're giving away thousands of copies for free, versus ensuring people who actually buy copies before they're removed can still give them away like some of the other removals.

Well, until we get a definitive answer from a blue on the matter directly (or find one already out there) we just don't know, but I wouldn't hedge any bets on it to be safe considering:
"Please note that all three classic Fallout titles are pending right holder change. Sadly, to the best of our knowledge, we'll be forced to remove Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics from our offer. That doesn't mean, however, that you won't be able to download them if they are already a part of collection by then."
Certainly leans towards what I'm saying.
Either way I have the games, so it doesn't really affect me.

I saw that. But these aren't purchases, they're in an odd place between a promo freebie, and a 16 digit code.

...ON ANOTHER NOTE:

is anyone else having a massive case of sale apathy and not getting excited by any of the offers? - particularly when the "magic boxes" appear to be full of stuff ya don't want?!

It doesn't matter. It applies to all 16-digit codes, purchased or free.

After Insomnia Sale when I even won a couple of free GOGs? Yeah as I said Insomnia dwarfs the Winter Sale for me so far. :P

That was a horrible sale.
