leonairxxx: region settings apply actually..:( which is why i missed Dishonored GOTY for $3.75
On the other hand, i got LA Noire for that price.
The only place I encountered that was a few things on amazon.com which were quickly solved by using an American state/zip code (CA, 90210) for my address. Some folks have speculated about how that wont work or why it is a bad idea, but I'm actually playing the games I bought by doing that so it gets a great big Works For Me(TM) stamp. :)
No idea if similar workarounds would work for other retailers though. I'd search the web to find out before attempting it myself and look for actual real-world results people have had rather than rampant speculations that are a dime a dozen. There are also customs brokers that allegedly work.
Some of the sales however, the given website would not even display to those in some other countries. Tigerdirect.ca for example did not work in .nz, the pages were inaccessible. I guess there's a certain amount of crapshoot involved. I've successfully bought or gotten freebie promotions from Canada, USA, UK, Sweden, Germany lately, including some games that were locked to the given region "allegedly" but which were easy to circumvent via a change of address or a change of IP address. My IPv4 endpoint is within Canada, however my IPv6 endpoint is in the US so that works around some US-only things online. There are also a multitude of proxies out there, VPNs, etc. Sometimes it is worth trying a few things. :)
