Friendly advice: turn down flashes, as it gets uncomfortable as soon as you max out weapons and volume, and you can't see anything. Not to mention pontential headaches afterwards.

I have seen the end of it, I just had to use a walkthrough to get past those monkeys. Darn critters, ruined my otherwise perfect Myst-series playthrough :(

What usually works for me is just stopping for a couple of days and then coming back.

I understand how you feel though, much more satisfying to not use a guide.
