niniendowarrior: My friend is having problem with her Sims 3... I hope someone can pitch in some ideas here. When she fires up the game, it just shuts down the computer. I've done my research with their forums and they suggested to turn on vsync which according to her didn't work. I've also asked her to verify the following:
1. No dust on the cards.
2. Drivers are up to date.
3. GeForce GTX 460 (so I think it should be OK)
4. vsync tip.
5. Doesn't seem to be overheating on normal operation and other games.
So, I'm running out of ideas.
try this (from the same forum though)
1 - Open the Control Panel (Found through the start button)
2 - Open the Nvidia Control Panel (You may want to use the search tool in the Control Panel for it)
3 - At the top of the Control Panel, select "Advanced Settings"
4 - Select "Advanced"
5 - On the side menu, click "Manage 3D Settings"
6 - Change "Conformant Texture Clamp" to "Use OpenGL specification"
7 - Change "Force Mipmaps" to "Trilinear"
8 - Change "Texture Filtering - Trilinear Optimization" to "On"
9 - Change "Vertical Sync" to "Force On"
just check it's all paramaters are the same ...
i suggest to make a profile for the .exe if the game isn't the profiles list
