GameRager: Y u no heard of forum parties? They're all the rage here in the states......along with Twitterbrations and facebook-offs, etc.

Psyringe: Just be grateful that we aren't using webcams here. Looking at me and my room right now would probably be a daring task. ;)
Meh, i've most likely seen worse rooms.

(Heck, I want to cam on that one website so bad(forget the name....the one with tv in the name or something.), but my room is so plain/disorganized looking i'm afraid to show it to anyone. :\)

AFnord: Also, either the scripter is not active right now, or there is a bit of manual work involved, because apart from GameRager's ninja, none of the codes have been grabbed.
He also might be watching the thread, and may have turned the script off for the time being. We've been talking enough about it, thanks to the people who were too curious for their own good. ;-/

AFnord: Problem is that my bedroom looks like the office of a mad scientist, and I would not like to show you that.

lugum: hey dont offend mrtophat like that there
Not offended. I'm flattered.

lugum: its about people who might use scripts, never play them etc.
I see no problem with people using scripts to get games, or at least not as much as others do. To me it's just one tool in one's arsenal that one could use, along with one's mind(For logic puzzle giveaways, etc.) and typing speed.

It's the ones who don't thank that I have more issue with, as I said before.

its often the ones who use scripts who dont thank because they might not even be behind the pc. and its also the ones who just get any game and dont care if there is a game they might not like.

Yeah it takes nothing to simply just says thanks grabbed that one
avatar
GameRager: Ok then
avatar
AFnord: I think we can safely assume that GameRage has an itching trigger finger :P
I wasn't going to take it but then I figured why let someone who is less thankful get such a nice gift. :)

I think it's pretty lame, and it is a tool in the same way as doping is a tool in sports. Once people start using it, you either need to disallow it, or everyone _needs_ to use it if he wants to have even the slightest chance of staying "competitive". And therefore, scripts take a lot of fun and good nature out of a giveaway, because it degenerates into a competition of robots.

Some might be busy and forget to say thanks, or they may not be using scripts and just be rude. I see no reason to assume all or even most scipt users are those not thanking.
The hell is going on?

I thought someone was giving away free ninjas but instead people are gifting games?

The thread title is deceiving and i want my ninja.

Frowned upon or not, a tool is still a tool.

As for everyone "needing" to use them for the competitions to be fair, one could also say everyone "needs" to be good at logic puzzles in order for it to be fair/allowable for someone good at them to compete in logic puzzle giveaways, etc.

I guess random testing at points in the future will be the only way to find out.

The thing is though that a lot of these have been from brand new 0 purchase accounts, that often grabs codes incredibly fast. Sure if it happened once or twice, but when it becomes the norm, then that is when it becomes a bit worrying.

I find it stupid.. as they don't share the same shelf as their main account... I like to have a single shelf , a single account for all my games :s....

BTW all my gamer gates games ARE gifts I won in giveaways/ I snatched...
I only buy from GOG when i can afford it, and will only always buy from here.

Well if that's the case then that sucks. They should be thanking and not just taking.
