macuahuitlgog: Of course, some people will find me difficult to understand. People will always find some people difficult to understand. We are not all the same. Why can't you accept that?
I don't have trouble "accepting" that. I just think that these differences may be worth a second look if they cause unnecessary misunderstandings, like mistaking friendly advice for an attack - because understanding what went wrong might prevent such misunderstandings in the future.

Your replies to lugum, GameRager and myself do not show any willingness on your part to do that. Which is okay, it's not such a big deal after all, but currently you do give me the impression that you're running into problems unnecessarily. But it's your choice, so I don't feel any need to discuss this further.

avatar
macuahuitlgog: I found most of what you said to be absurd, like you saying what I said is absurd. What I said is common sense...
I am very convinced that it's not nearly as common as you might think. In fact it might be a pretty unique view. Your argument _does_ make sense on an abstract logical level. However, people do not operate on that level when they are communicating, and in case of the "Relax" example, they don't even need to. People often advise others to "relax" without mentioning specific methods of doing so, in the same way as people are saying "Go over there" without mentioning specific methods of doing so. There's no need to tell someone how to put one foot in front of the other, because usually people know this. Likewise, there's rarely a need to give specific advice on how to relax, as people usually know this, it's a basic form of emotional self-management that people usually learn at around 14.

I'm surprised that you are actually debating this. I'm trying to understand which kind of mindset one would need to have to actually think the way you apparently do, and so far, the only match I've found is someone who has trouble with communication (and little actual experience). That's not meant as an insult btw, it's just the result of an analysis of your behavior (and it may be wrong).

avatar
macuahuitlgog: And calling me less competent than a 14 year old? Was that necessary? No, your post made me think, you just want to piss me off, so I called you a troll.
I didn't say that. I was stating a fact in order to explain why hundreds of people can tell me (and others) to "relax, it's not that important" without the message being misunderstood as offensive.

And I didn't want to piss you off, just like lugum didn't want to piss you off, or anyone else who replied to you. That's actually a part of the message I'm trying to bring across. You (apparently) are misunderstanding people, see their posts as attacks, react by "defending" yourself, and thereby cause problems that are totally unnecessary, because the insult happened only in your imagination. Actually, my motivation for writing all this is in no way to piss you off, but to explain to you that you yourself would be better off if you didn't misinterpret posts as attacks.

lugum: some are drunk or tipsy. hence why i said coffee corner. but that would seperate us though. :x

AFnord: Coffee corner would work for me. I have so much caffeine in my body that I can hardly type straight.
Though coffee itself, now that is horrible stuff. Tea, now that is where it is at!
what's wrong with typing gay? (sorry bad joke)

you do know there is decaf and that a bunch of tea also contains caffeine?

slaktarn: a few dried up leafs in a mug of warm water no thank you
Better than a tiny cup of water filtered through dried up beans.

(I don't think you drink coffee in as large cups as I drink tea)

I prefer to be called British, thank you.
Oh yes, all real tea (i.e. non-herbal) contains caffeine (about 20-25mg/L brewed tea). That is why there is so my caffeine in my body right now, due to excessive tea drinking (think I'm way past 3L today)

you are always welcome. but not like it's great here. now people who wants to buy weed need a pass. as a result instead of legal shops the sales moved on to the streets (along with it's criminality)

Na, I think we can take this one in English. And I drink tea in 0.5-0.8L mugs.

I hate normal coffee. I love espresso w/ milk though. Also those 3in1 coffees and Nescaffe.

IKEA for the 0.8L mugs, and I found the 0.5L mugs in a store that really wanted to look like an exclusive Chinese store, but in fact just sold cheap junk (made in China)

So how large are your coffee mugs? Almost everyone here around Stockholm that I know seem to think that the bare minimum for a tea mug is ~0.5L
