The recent Gala bundle included a download link for Rebuild for an Android device. I don't have one so would it work to give the link away? I assume so. Right? Why not.

I'm going offline now but the first responder who says they want it gets the link when I return.

Sachys: Ungrateful swines!
What was it?
So there's one last twist to the tale...

I PM'd support saying I'd had a key nicked (told the whole story, including the fact that I was giving it away) and GOG support, being the cool bastards they are, checked it out.

The account that had redeemed it (they didn't tell me the username and I don't blame them) had indeed brute-forced the code. Since my story checked out (and I had proof that the code was originally mine) they removed it from the scumbag's account and gifted me a fresh copy to give to the rightful winner of the code. I can't think of another DD site that would do this.

tl;dr: Game was taken from the scumbag, went to rightful winner. GOG support is full of cool guys.

That's very nice to hear.
But how did he managed to get the code? What do you mean by "brute-force"?

Brute force is a method of cracking passwords and the like. It basically means to try every possible combination in sequence, sometimes very fast using a script. In this case, it wouldn't have taken that many tries to brute force this because I didn't remove many digit from the code.

There was evidence of that person brute-forcing it as it turns out that there are logs of every attempt to redeem a code and so it was clear he was just running through all the possibilities of the missing bit.

In fact, the only reason I removed them was so that I'd know when the code was gone (my intention being that someone would PM me to get the missing bit so I'd know the code was gone). I cannot believe someone brute forced a code I was freely giving away... all they had to do was PM me but they went to all that effort to avoid it!
