1)Well, you have to download it to have it. As far as I recall there is no need for always online connection.
2)Mostly not
3)I think it doesn't have DRM. I have DRM free copy but I'm not sure if it's ok to send it to you, as I've already given away key for it.

Gamersgate uses whatever publisher gives them. All of their games have DRM type in description.
