The first title from the just announced agreement with Funbox Media is not a game for kids and will definitely make you get goose pimples all over.

Realms of the Haunting is, first and foremost, a horror game, but contains an interesting mix of different genres. It's a first-person perspective game with quite a bit of shooting involved, but is also an adventure game and has some RPG elements. Finally, there are many FMV sequences on top of it all. This sounds overwhelming and believe us Realms of the Haunting is one of those few games that do a good job at blending different genres.

The story is by far the strongest quality of Realms of the Haunting - it's solid and keeps you hooked from the beginning to the very end. The presentation, despite the old visuals, does a great job at keeping the suspense up and give you a good scare when required. The free-look camera and freedom of movement result in a strong connection between you and the game.
You're not too scared to play this game... Are you?

TheEnigmaticT: Not that Funbox isn't totally awesome.
Tsundere detected.

Lafazar: Unfortunately not. But it's not THAT difficult since you can save anywhere and most of your weapons will have infinite ammo. Still, you should preserve your health as much as possible since healing potions are finite (I usually finish the game with a ton left over, though).

Also the enemy AI is pretty simple and can be exploited rather easily (they often can't cross certain thresholds and are easily dispatched). Combat is also pretty slow paced. Oh, and you can pause the game at anytime and calmly drink a health potion. This really is an adventure game at heart, not an FPS.

wodmarach: the most annoying is probably the James Bond wannabies, however it's closer to strategy than FPS last boss I'm looking at you!
Yeah, you pretty much can't prevent losing health with the Bond wannabies.
But the last boss is easy. I usually save Florentine's Staff for that one. Three hits and he's dead. :)

It really is more like an adventure than an FPS: "Use gun on monster" (click)

This doesn't look terrible. Maybe I'll pick it up if it goes on sale or something.
I'm going to buy this one on my next payday.

I've never played it but since I'm a big horror fan I've considered buying it from e-bay more than once before. Great addition!
Don´t be fooled by the captions.. This game rocks.

pro tip the only way to play this one the first time is at night with the lights off and the sound up...
If you look at the captions you may think that this is a FPS, totally wrong this game have much more of an adventure. Watch this gameplay.

Will do! I usually thrive on atmosphere more than actual horror and would not dream of ruining it with lights ;)
I've never played this game (though I've heard of it, of course). It looks like fun from the Youtube videos.

If I loved (and still love) the original Alone in the Dark, would this be a good game for me?

Alone in the Dark is one of my favourite games, but... I don´t know, the game concept is totally different.
now it's time to publish the great Soulbringer!.......

tarangwydion: I played this game in the past, and did not get very far. I had trouble attacking the enemies. Not sure if it was something to do with my DOSBox configuration or something else.
Ouch... I just realized today that I somehow mixed Realms of the Haunting with a different game, which is The Legacy: Realms of Terror. So, my post above is irrelevant.
