Oddworld just got Stranger...

We visit the epic world of Abe and Munch to meet a third protagonist of the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue/#all_genres/search/oddworld/]Oddworld universe. Meet the Stranger, a badass bounty hunter. This installment of the series brings us into the spaghetti western setting of Sekto Springs. The main goal of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is to gather enough moolah for a mysterious operation that the Stranger has to go through. To fulfill this you’ll hunt a plethora of villains and criminals which, like in any bounty business, are worth more alive than dead. The Stranger is on the trail of the ultimate bounty that would pay for all of his needs: the last of the Steef, a race of guardian creatures that are purportedly extinct...

As in every Oddworld series game, Stranger’s Wrath is oozing with the signature design of Oddworld Inhabitants polish and it is an unique blend of a first person shooter with a third person action adventure game. Either shoot your way with your trusty firearm or traverse the vast plains of Oddworld. Another example of the Oddworld flair for the bizarre lies in the game's weapons. Stranger, as a professional bounty hunter, has a two-barreled crossbow that uses “live” ammo ;) Live being living and lethal. Choose from 9 different critters to lock and load your weapon and unleash living hell on various Outlaws and criminals. This game features an extensive list of upgrades of Stranger’s equipment, such as the crossbow, the munitions, storage capacity and armor upgrades.

Don’t hold back, check out the Just Add Water remake of the classical Oddworld title from the original Xbox. It’s up for grabs DRM-free on GOG.com for $9.99!
I will pass for now, $9.99 is a bit pricey.

Darling_Jimmy: Yes, I figured out they are listing the Steam release date for some reason.
avatar
Galimatias: It's the release date of the PC version.
The Xbox version was a 2005 game ;)
I think they refer to the "Just add Water" remake that came out in 2010.

GOG: can you confirm if this is the remake or just a port from the Xbox verson?
Hmm wishlisted for now....
I really hope for GOG that AFTER Seam an GamersGate (DRM FREE) had this one discounted before there are enough people left who don´t have it yet.

If you don´t have just get it! This truly something different in the FPS Genre!
I really enjoyed this game on xbox but I think I'll wait for the enhanced version on PSN and make SWAT 3 my next 10 purchase here.

The STEAM version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath has achievements and it's about the same price as GOG

So.....STEAM version > GOG version

GOG version is DRM free, has the soundtrack, and supports GOG.com.

So, you are wrong.

Edit: received the Oddboxx for review when it was released. Stranger's Wrath was a holy mess at that time and needed multiple patches. After all of the extra TLC, it was well worth the money and time to play through the game. It would be neat to hear if the upgraded visuals will work with the GOG version when they are released (rumored) on PC.

Eeeh actually you can find the soundtrack for free on youtube...
The DRM-free is NO BIG DEAL at all.....(you can copy-paste your steam game files, reactivate your steam account and have your games already installed in your library)
Well the Steam version supports STEAM?....i guess?

I heard that you can find the game for free on usenet and torrent sites as well...
PS: people here have an issue with DRM and for some it is a big deal. Use the search function to find the topic to see the arguments for it. This is not the place.

You, sir, are disqualified. Besides, having to have a third party program installed just to be able to play a singleplayer game is so ewwww.
I got it when it first came out on steam and it never was a very good port to begin with. With that in mind and the fact that it's only recently been released on pc, and the fact that GOG haven't released Munch's Oddysee yet, which is a real mess of a port, it seems a strange (no pun intended) choice. It is a great game on xbox but one that still needs work on pc.

There is no remake yet, just the port. The HD remake in the works is only confirmed on playstation 3 at the moment.

The torrent / usenet reference was due to your Youtube comment :)
Unless the owner of the copyright of the soundtrack uploaded it, it is there illegally.

Yeah, and most of us here are old farts who think games should stay games, and if you are into online community, you go to forum, not some new Facebook stuff.

And about new release - it' s cool to see it here, but it's not instant buy for me. Maybe because I still haven't played first two games. :P But they are waiting on my bookshelf for better times.
