Oddworld just got Stranger...

We visit the epic world of Abe and Munch to meet a third protagonist of the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue/#all_genres/search/oddworld/]Oddworld universe. Meet the Stranger, a badass bounty hunter. This installment of the series brings us into the spaghetti western setting of Sekto Springs. The main goal of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is to gather enough moolah for a mysterious operation that the Stranger has to go through. To fulfill this you’ll hunt a plethora of villains and criminals which, like in any bounty business, are worth more alive than dead. The Stranger is on the trail of the ultimate bounty that would pay for all of his needs: the last of the Steef, a race of guardian creatures that are purportedly extinct...

As in every Oddworld series game, Stranger’s Wrath is oozing with the signature design of Oddworld Inhabitants polish and it is an unique blend of a first person shooter with a third person action adventure game. Either shoot your way with your trusty firearm or traverse the vast plains of Oddworld. Another example of the Oddworld flair for the bizarre lies in the game's weapons. Stranger, as a professional bounty hunter, has a two-barreled crossbow that uses “live” ammo ;) Live being living and lethal. Choose from 9 different critters to lock and load your weapon and unleash living hell on various Outlaws and criminals. This game features an extensive list of upgrades of Stranger’s equipment, such as the crossbow, the munitions, storage capacity and armor upgrades.

Don’t hold back, check out the Just Add Water remake of the classical Oddworld title from the original Xbox. It’s up for grabs DRM-free on GOG.com for $9.99!

Kabuto: I just checked those steam achievements and at least 18/20 are progression achievements so while I usually laugh at the artificial achievements making a version superior statements, I can laugh even harder here.

ELGRECO: Eeeh..actually the purpose of the achievements is to expand the replay value of the game...i really haven't checked if those are progression achievements or not but sure they are better than the soundtrack(at least for me).Oh and the actuall reason i would buy the gog version is because is 7 and something euros(as @real.geizterfahr stated above) which i didn't notice the first time i checked the deal....
Well @Kabuto i can tell you this:about a month ago the steam had Abe's Odysee,Abe's Exoddus,Oddworld:Munch's Odysee,Oddworld:Stranger's Wrath all together 5 euros!!!(which i actually missed and learned later)

Beat that GOG!!! :P
D2D had the oddbox drm-free for $5. What's your point? Those are sale prices. This regular price is the same as every other dd store's price.

Yes they are all essentially progression achievements. But speaking of achievements, they don't add replay at all except for those who want to see little boxes light up on their profile. Achievements are a combination of progression, time elapsed and gimmicks. A game shouldn't need gimmicks to be replayed.

The only reason to replay O:SW for achievements is the not so rare (at least in the release version) case of buggy game not registering two or three of them in a row. That is, if you can be bothered with garbage like "you've beaten the tutorial, have a cardboard medal" at all.
I will never understand the appeal of achievements. Seriously why do you need a bunch of little boxes to be able to replay a game?

Wishlisted for now.
Agreed. Achievements don't do anything for me. If I replay a game, it's because I like it, not to get X "achievement" because I missed it the first time around.

In any regard, GoG > Steam any day of the week. GoG doesn't make me update my client when I'm perfectly satisfied with how it's working. GoG doesn't assume I'm guilty if I want to play my games on a PC that doesn't have a 'Net connection by requiring that I verify online that I own the right to play said game. Nor am I forced to log in to their client to download the missing files that should have been with the rest of the program in order to play it the first time around so I have to be subject to their DRM. Despite how friendly it looks, it's still DRM any way you slice it. This has caused me to pass on several new titles that I had been looking forward to.

Yeah. And these people actually believe they achieved something when they see a "You have sucesfully created a character" popup.

I think some of them would be satisfied with instant win button applied to the game also.

Is there an achievement for that? :o lool
The shortest conversation I've ever had in regards to STEAM, was just the other day when I was telling someone about the DRM removal of GoG games and the response was,

"I don't have to worry about DRM because I use STEAM"

Nothing else to do there but pat them on the back and wish them the best :/

As for the oddworld games, I've managed to miss these at retail every time cash was available. I'm excited to see them coming to GoG and I'll be starting the franchise brand new with game number 1 the very next cash influx (or sale, or if my wife isn't looking... whichever happens first).

liquidsnakehpks: hehe btw i thought this was a steamworks game
it's not

Zelnick: Will the GOG versions of Stranger's Wrath and Munch's Oddysee (when it inevitably gets added) get updated here as the new developers patch the games and when they eventually add the "high definition" content to Stranger's Wrath?

It wouldn't make sense to buy it here and miss out on future patches and content.
I'd like to have an official confirmation too.

For those that don't know what we're talking about...
