It could be really cool, I am downloading it now and will try it out and report back with impressions, but I was hoping someone with more tech knowledge could do a more thorough/scientific review --like with FPS and real numbers!

It's a DosBox game, so It's pretty processor-heavy. No real performance gain here.
Arx Fatalis: thought I would see something here, but sadly I didn't notice any difference. This is the sort of game i was hoping would get a boost, as It's more modern and on the edge of my netbook's capabilities.
Bullet Candy: this is proof that this program does something. BC went from about half speed to silky smooth 30+ frames. Don't know why this game benefited so much but now I can't beat the awesome score that I got when it was running nice and slow and easy lol.

it should (understandably) cut down battery life. running at full I actually didn't notice too much of a hit to my battery life.
otherwise, it is apparently 100% safe overclocking. it doesn't cause the hardware to have to run physically harder... as my rudimentary understanding is

it's not 100 % safe. It causes more power consumption == More heat.
If your laptop isn't up to that you could damage it seriously.

You should try the Windows 95 patch released a while back. It's XP compatible (as far as I recall) and makes it a native Windows game (probably with DirectX acceleration; I forget) and as such should run much faster than in DOSBox.

I read about this a while ago. Apparently it's strictly speaking not overclocking, it's more like "de-underclocking". Apparently the GMA950 is capable of running at 400 MHz, but is underclocked on LV chipsets like those used in netbooks and many laptops.
This would mean that the chip itself is perfectly capable of running at the full speed, but the cooling system in the laptop might not be. The people who made this application claim that this de-underclocking has "minimal to no" impact on battery life or heat, though.
Usually when you overclock something you have to increase the voltage to the chip in order to make it work. The higher voltage and the higher frequency both contribute to increases in power and heat, but voltage is the largest factor. Power and heat scales in proportion to the cube of the voltage. This GMA950 stuff does not involve modifying any voltages though, so that could explain why they claim minimal impact.
I wouldn't trust their claim 100% though, so if you start experiencing random freezes or crashes you might want to stop using their application.

no, it's a third party app that's pay to use, has great dual monitor features, I can't remember the name of it at all.. it works for almost any video card, onboard or off..
