SimonG: How exactly is VAC a problem for modding games that don't use it and are without any multiplayer?
I think he's confusing VAC with CEG.

CEG/Steam generally doesn't give a shit about cracked/modded EXEs, VAC/Steam does and can cause your account major problems.
Is there any way to make the vanilla game have a bit farther drawing distance? I've tried the overhaul, and though neat, I just don't feel like playing it like that, so I went back to vanilla.

Click trough this. Enjoy.
Any news on the gameplay overhaul mod?
I wish I could get this to work, but I just can't get it to run faster than 20 FPS on what I thought was a pretty decent computer.

It looks pretty when nothing is moving, though!

Fenixp: You don't remember Morrowind very well then :D

Titanium: It feels different to me. Like something it wants to be (Oblivion, Skyrim), but what it actually does is cheapen it in my eyes. To me, the best Morrowind was the one I played years ago, and finished it.
Don't worry, there are plenty of people like me who don't use this because they want Morrowind to look like Morrowind. This isn't for everyone.
does this go with the tamriel rebuild and other major map overhauls? I am working in a group that does Skyrim for Morrowind called Shotn you should check it out shotn.com and I think that they should work with the overhaul
Well my bro installed Morrowind Overhaul and it looks gorgeous but I am dissipointed that there is still fog, but its strange because I saw vids showing no fog at all to the point they cast that levitation spell and I see all of Morrowind.

Is there something we are missing? The primary reason we installed Morrowind Overhaul is to get rid of the fog.
There is a setting to remove the fog. I've uninstalled it currently, so I can't give you directions, unfortunately. But, it certainly is doable. Hopefully some helpful soul will post here with specific directions.

+1 Thank you! I spent fifteen minutes looking all over the place and couldn't find a single description of what the thing was.

I think one of the settings you can adjust (all the various graphics options section) in the installer is if you want to get rid of the fog or not.

Got rid of the fog.

Aaahh thats more like, all of Vvardenfell in my eyes, I never notice those creepy looking branches outside of Balmora.

I did not mind the old graphics I just wanted the fog gone, but wow they really made everything even more alive.

Now dungeons and outside places at night are so dark I really need a torch, and I like that visual where if you look directly at a person or thing every surronding what you are looking at is blurred, amazing.
Curse you OP! I've been clean for several years now, but your post has put... that game... back in my head. That game... is now all I'm thinking about. Getting off the boat at Seyda Neen. Visiting my old buddy Vivec (did he dump Elatos yet?). Thinking about how I've never played a larger, more expansive, more free-form game. Thinking how no game I've played has more mods available, where saying there are thousands of mods is a LITERAL claim. Remembering the awesome vistas from that demo video. Remembering the exploration, the ash storms, and yes... yes, even cliff racers. I... *twitch*, I just can't... *twitch*... there's... I... but....

CURSE YOU OP!!!!!111!!!
