War CAN be an honorable thing, even a good thing, when you're... say... stopping a megalomaniac genocidal madman from taking over all of Europe and killing off an entire culture.

Thinking anything since WW2 has been the same kind of thing is ridiculous though. Even the war in Afghanistan, which I supported, was more about self-interest.

Even the preceding World War was the result of a tangled web of international treaties. Not so much 'We've got to stop the bad guys!' as 'Our allies are going to war, and we're contractually obligated to help them out'.

Indeed. Then fuck Germany up the ass afterwards so their country is on the brink of disaster and gets desperate. That turned out well.

Man, you wanna talk inflation? 1DM was worth $1,000,000,000,000 (that's one trillion; slight hyperbole, but not really).

Not sure, but everything since has fortunately been on a smaller scale.

I think it's relatively natural if you're referring to the interests of the U.S. and some other countries opposed to al-Qaeda. I don't think the U.S. / coalition claimed much else to begin with in 2001.

Besides, the way I see it, a lot of altruistic initiatives have a dimension of self-interest. A more stable and friendly Afghanistan will probably benefit the West, for instance. Self-interest isn't necessarily a bad thing in all contexts (not that I'm reading your post that way).

Oh, Linkin Park... Elementary School memories... :D I still like their two studio albums. New ones are shit, though.

By the way, about a new Medal of Honor game. There are GERMANS in Polish GROM special unit. How could they?! ;p

Elenarie: That was sensational, especially the bass lines, nicely done. :) (going to buy and listen to their new album tomorrow) @those that disagree, you can die for all I care. (since that is the only way to keep up with the classy-ness of this community these days)
I think this is the 2nd or 3rd thread I've seen recently where you said a whole group of people should die off. Are you *sure* that that kind of thing is the best way to keep a classy community?
