After EA fucked up Origin in the worst possible ways they name their download service Origin ten years later. Did anyone notice that before?

Summit: I would really like to buy ME3 but i will not tolerate that Origin forces me to play the localised version. Not every gamer in Poland want their games translated.

michaelleung: Surely it's multilingual?
From what i read on the internet Origin forces the localised version on you based on your location. There where several threads on various forums about it. I was forced to play localised demo, that's for sure. There was no way for me to change language.
If you tried to buy this game on origin you would see that you choose game language when you purchase and stop posting bullshit.

the problem is, once you choose game language, it's permanent. At least in some way, because I can't choose Polish language for ME2 or DA:O anymore, but i can change the language to italian or german. But not polish. Maybe it's because DLC incompability.

The same goes with Dragon Age 2. I've chosen english as my language, and I can't change it anymore.

I have it already installed (but I can't play it yet ) and I could chose what language I want. I never had such a problem with any game on Origin and I have around 10 of them there.

Only problem had my friend. He bought activation key for Battlefield 3 on eBay and later he found out that it was key for a Russian version of the game and he couldn't change its language. Probably it was some kind of protection to prevent western players from buying cheaper game from Russia.

Yes, that is a way to prevent cheap keys being sold on ebay. Afaik, you could buy "upgrades" for MW 3. This is only an issue if you buy your game on lower tier regions, but Poland is EU 1 (or 2), so this isn't a problem.

All my Origin games let me choose my language, and also my client is in english.

That's not 100% correct. Depending on the game, you'll have a language choice -- if the specific Origin store offers multiple language versions. When adding keys purchased elsewhere, you should always get a choice of which language version you want (unless buying a dirt cheap region locked copy, that should warn you of such on the packaging). You can also have multiple copies of the same game, with different language versions - I have both English and Japanese versions of Mirror's Edge on my Origin account.

As for demos, I downloaded the ME3 demo from Origin JP and still had it in English even though they are selling a Japanese language version of the game. So that too, is likely to depend on how your region specific Origin store handles that sort of thing. (Japan's one sells Japanese language games and *some* English language only games, but will only provide customer support for Japanese language versions).

SimonG: I can get that people are upset about using a client in the first place. But how can a game be bad because it doesn't use Steam. That is truly beyond me.
Because it is not on the Holy Steam.
You know, Steam saves the PC gaming and all that usual fanboy stuff.
EDIT: Already been said before.

D2D is dead already (now it's Gamefly). It was very sad, because it was one of the last DD stores without an imposed client/DRM.

Yes, I know that but typing D2D is faster than typing Gamefly. As far as the client goes, Gamefly isn't too bad. I only tested it with SpaceChem but the client downloaded the installer and it lets you backup it like the D2D downloader did. The installer file was stand-alone and worked without the client running.

Gamer's Gate (and GOG; of course) still offers clientless DD
Hello,

@OP If you want to invest money in video game business, consider to invest in the hand held iphone, ipad mobil gaming sector. Most young people and adulescent do not bother with pc or consoles but have an iphone, ipad or android mobil phone. 100.000 new phones are sold every day. So its kind the market of the present and the future.

Do not bother about people pirating games. They will do this as long as their is a way to do so. Even with most draconian DRM forms and death sentence to illegal software copying, there will be die-hard pirates who will copy everything they can. Pirates do not buy video games but customers do. Its a shame that DRM effects only customers and not illegal users.

A and of cause i preorderd Mass effect 3, the DRM free version from amazon. But i do not mind to use Origin at all. Its just a download manager with user account system for me. Like steam, nothing more, nothing less.

Have a nice day
I myself today pre-ordered ME3 from GG and it wasn't so bad because I also got that DA:O game also with it (I've played it but still). Both effects have been good games and so I must see it through. Also I got some money today so it was again a last chance order. In my country it can be activated tomorrow or day after that. Cheers to that.

1. Install ME3, it will say it can't unlock until XXX.
2. Install a US VPN (HotSpot Shield might work).
3. Run the VPN.
4. Start Origin (make it auto login so you don't have to input data through the VPN).
5. Run ME3, it will think you're in US and unlock.
6. Play earlier than you're supposed to.

You can disable the VPN after step 5 also with no problems.
