Skystrider: If they are going to make modern sequels to their classic games, they must also bring back the creative talent that made them classic in the first place. Otherwise, this is bound to fail.
Put it simply, present day Lucasarts is not the same company that we knew in the 90's. Not by a long shot.

Amen to that. I still can't believe that the company that was THE greatest development house in the 90's could have fallen this far.
It really is sad how low this company has fallen. The fact that they have all of these fantastic IP's that they refuse to do anything with, makes have little respect for them. How much work would it be to let these games go on services like GOG or Gametap?
When it comes to non-use of old IP's who's worse, Lucasarts or EA?
The way I see it, no Tim Schafer = no adventure games. That's how it is.
I wouldn't be suprised if it was a DS or Wii port, it would be an easy enough way for them to make some cash.
Hell, if it was even a halfway decent selection of DS ports, I'd possibly bite.

EA, if only for the fact that LucasArts is merely refusing to use their own IPs. EA, on the other hand, has over the years bought up more old IPs than I've eaten french fries in my life, and refuse to do anything with the vast majority of them.
the lucasarts of today is thoroughly incapable of doing justice to classic lucasarts games.

I agree. The good news could be that they decided to produce a game, developped by, let's say Double Fine? Yeah, I know, I'm dreaming...
By the way, Double Fine's last game, Brutal Legend, directed by Tim Schaffer, and with the voice of Jack Black, looks awesome! There's a lot of Full Throttle/Grim Fandango feeling in it IMO.

Yup, EA wins by sheer force of numbers. Saddest thing is that the used to be the tops for pushing weird & unusual stuff but they went all corporate & lost their soul. Its like the one kid in high school who loved metal and never gave a shit what anyone else thought then you meet them years later only to find they're a christian, married and have 3 kids & a station wagon...

michaelleung: What are you talking about? KOTOR was awesome!

MaverickRazor: It was fantastic, but it was made by Bioware. In fact any half decent star wars game of recent years has been made by a third party; the LEGO series was Travellers Tales, Battlefront was by Pandemic and the Rogue Squadron series was by Factor 5.
If this new update is made in house then there is not a lot of recent history to suggest it will be any good.

Well there was one good in house Lucasarts game in recent years, Star Wars Republic Commando. Whilst not as good as KOTOR or battlefront, I really enjoyed it.
Oh, another good series was the Dark Forces series that morphed into the jedi knight games, and I believe the Dark Forces games were developed by Lucasarts, although the later Jedi Knight games were made by Raven.
Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, lucasarts did dark forces & jedi knight+expansion, raven did Jedi Knight 2 & Jedi Knight 2:Jedi Academy

They usually call it "growing up".
Growing up is no excuse to become boring!

Case in point: Richard Branson.

How about christian kids who love metal and doesn't give a shit? I know a couple of those (well, late teens, but w/e).

Have they still got a personality? Thats the thing that really gets me, I've seen a few people become that image I mentioned and they just seem 2 dimensional afterwards and you can tell by looking at them that they're just existing. Its really sad to see them settled rather than happy
