Funny thing, not all cerberus' have 3 heads, some have 1 head, and a snake like tail, there are actually different variations on the same creature. :)

I think the dog just had an oversized tongue. I know my dog's tongue sometimes hangs like that.

Haha, or it was mad someone took the last slice of pie. I know I get that look in my eyes when someone does. :P

Yeah, I know. He is best known from Labors of Hercules and there he had three heads. In fact it was the most common description, but as you said - there were different variations. AFAIR in Hesiod's version it has a ridiculous number of heads <checking> yeah, fifty!

LOL, Hello hydra!
That dog is one step away from breaking down completely. No wonder this video is called Dog Malfunction.

Yeah, but even with hydra there was a major discrepancy <checking again> Aha! Here it is! According to Euripides hydra was supposed to have... ten thousands heads.

My personal best tale about hydra and the way to defeat it (and earn million gold pieces apparently) comes from the Order of the Stick. Check out those two stripes: [url=http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0326.html]second

LOL, I know, I was just making an (albeit lame) joke. :P Thanks for the link though, I love mythology talk.

Theta_Sigma: I love mythology talk.
Me too! But what I love most is the real explanations of those myths. Because usually they were inspired by some real and... rather ordinary situations. Actually each myth has several possible explanation. Hydra's regeneration power may come from the observation of a vain struggle to stop a stream. Every time people tried to block its way it just divided and they had to deal with two streams... of course it's just a hypothesis but I really like it.

My personal favorite is that of the Trojan Horse. The way Iliad pictures it is so irrational that many people tried to find a different explanation. And they came up with an idea that perhaps Greek soldiers defeated Trojan's cavalry scout unit and dressed themselves in their uniforms. Then they galloped straight to Troy. Defenders, seeing their own unit, kept the gate open and when they realize it was a trick it was already too late to close it. And so a small unit of the Greek soldiers got inside the city and all they had to do was to secure the gate so that the main army could get into the city as well - more less like Homer described. I really like this one!
Awwww, what do you think of that doggie, Miles?

Woof!

...... STOP STARING INTO MY SOUL!!!
