Fifeldor: Is the game playable on PC? I have a laptop, i7 2670 @2.4 ghz quad core, GTX 555M, 8GB RAM and I installed GTA4 yesterday, just to see if it played OK - the DRM killed the experience, but even on low, the game was freezing every 5-6 seconds for small intervals, which is funny because I can play even the Witcher 2 and BF3 on this rig. :-P
I never had freezes like that in GTA4, I doubt the DRM has anything to do with it.

As for LA Noire being "playable" of course it is. I hear it's capped to 30fps though, if you're super sensitive about such things.
bought it on Steam during the Christmas sale and it frackin' lags on my comp. Okay, it's not the most recent thing (Dual core @ 3.2 GHz, GTX280), but still, I was disappointed as hell. It will have to wait for my new computer, then...

I'm sure the dual core is killing you, as it would be in a lot of modern games.

Actually, LA Noire is the only "modern game" that lags so much on my PC.

Well considering how my Q9550 can bottleneck me at times I would guess your processor is holding you back pretty often, unless maybe you skip most of those games by coincidence. In any event, maybe you see the 30fps cap as "lag" then? Who knows.

Game runs fine for me.
Depends on what you call "modern games". If you're talking about Call of Duty or Assassin's Creed kind of games, I can't say since I'm not interested in those games. But The Witcher 2 is running fine (all options to the max), as well as Skyrim, for example.

But it's true that now, it's inevitable that my processor will bottleneck me more and more often. That's why I plan on getting a new rig sometime in this year. And I'll take a rig that will allow me to run games fine for the next 3-5 years, i think.

Skyrim drops a lot of frames in cities for me and I have been told by smart people that is my CPU's fault. I'm on ultra settings though, because everywhere other than a city it plays fine.

Borderlands screwed with my PC something fierce because the shadows were all on the CPU. With shadows off it ran at a solid 60fps but with them on it tanked to 20 at times.

GTA4 obviously was processor hungry.

In any case the difference might be that I am running things on max settings all the time because my PC can handle it 95% of the time, but then my CPU will bottleneck me at random times and piss me right the fuck off! Haha.
Yeah, I know the feeling! Skyrim vanilla is running just fine, but if I start adding visual mods (like HD textures), then the FPS drop like hell. GTA4 is running fine... except if I want to run it with the excellent Icehancer graphical tweaker, then it's just unplayable...

But for the moment, I'll play Lands of Lore 1, which I actually never finished back in the day. I think this one should run just fine! ^_^
