Kickstarter of Armikrog, which is basically The Neverhood 2 from almost the same people, started yesterday with nice numbers so far and many people will start looking for the original game. Because they played Neverhood years ago and almost forgot it, or because they have never heard about it and Armikrog's got their attention.

Wouldn't it be perfect time for GOG to come with this treasure right now, when people might be hungry for a copy of Neverhood? I can imagine all the work that need to be done to get it here, but if you managed to get Wizardry, this can't be that big problem for you!

I don't know the rights situation, but if somehow this allows GOG to get a foot in someone's door, that would be fantastic as there are nearly 3000 votes on the wishlist for The Neverhood.
Also, PSN needs Skullmonkeys.
Uh, neverhood would be nice!
Game runs like ass in modern Windows, needs to be forced into compatibility mode for Windows 95, 620x480 resolution, etc just to launch. I think it might be coming to ScummVM in the future

According to this Facebook post, the rights to the game lie with EA and the name with Doug Tennapel:
"So Dreamworks Interactive paid for the game to be made, and own the Neverhood characters (I own the name Neverhood, but can't make a project that represents itself as that game). Dreamworks Interactive was sold to EA. We've tried for years to work out a deal with EA, but it never made sense to them to do it for a number of reasons. They never fully understood the fanbase for the game, but that's not my problem. "

Huh! Well, we have a Dreamworks Interactive title here, Clive Barker's Undying, so if GOG, Doug, and EA are able to work out a deal, we might have a chance (compatibility issues aside). I tweeted Doug about this. https://twitter.com/TenNapel

Good luck! :) Now, if only the game had as many votes on the wishlist as it does likes on Facebook, it would go a long way in getting EA to bring the game aboard. I know there's several people in EA that love the old games in their library and have been helpful in bringing them to GOG with so many extras, so hopefully they will work their magic.
Got what seems to be a promising response! :D

"@tytbone @GOGcom It's EA's call not mine. Id be willing to negotiate with them all over the place. It depends on how flexible EA's legal is."

But we'll see..

Ooooohhhh...
Maybe if the wishlist gets a crazy amount of votes EA will decide it's time to pick up all that money fans have been trying to throw at their screens. It would make sense, right?

Meanwhile, GO ARMIKROG!
I love how people on the Kickstarter page for Armikrog post interesting things related to The Neverhood. Somebody even ripped a whole bunch of animations from the game.

Where was that?..

Faceplant!

Getting tiny.

Hungry mouse.

I want to play this game again... I've finished it probably a few hundred times in the past (you know... scraps of paper with the codes everywhere in the room... awesome stuff). I want it back...
Here are some cool gif:s from the Neverhood archive.

Best wishes from Blaise Roth at the Armikrog project comments. If not already there, please come and help to make this game true! It has to be done.

Go to kickstarter dot com and look for Armikrog

Haha, I linked those in my post above just a couple of seconds before you came here. :-P Awesome stuff.

I really wish I could support Armikrog, but I have no means of paying for Kickstarter. Sincerely wish you good luck with gathering enough support for the project.
