bansama: I was specifically referring to the posts that originated on the General Forum, were edited by a certain moderator starting with U and were subsequently moved. Valve employees don't tend to bother editing posts, they just delete or lock them.

OK, I know who you're talking about. Since he's not a Valve employee, why does he have a special interest with comments using GOG? It can't be because he is a "kool-aid" drinker. All mods over there are that way. Although some are more than others.
I'm pretty sure mods delete all links to competitors on the Steam forums... this is not a special case. If it is special in any way, it is probably because the games are new and their forum more heavily moderated.
Also, gog.com rolls off the typewriter and is made a link... most people would just type D2D or GG for those services, which are not links.
I am too happy for this for Interplay, but I got all Interplay games that I want from GOG.com. :)

The post I made didn't have a link to GOG. It just mentioned GOG and the price differences. And that was on the Euro Pricing thread, which has plenty of other posts showing price differences.

Most of the moderators don't tend to go to the trouble of editing every post that mentions a competitor. Just look through the weekend deal thread for examples.

Hmmm, well I guess they are being overzealous then.
This is good news for GOG then, in my opinion... for Steam to consider them such a threat.
1. Steam as a client has more troubles than GOG
2. Pricing is retarded on steam
3. No extras on steam version
4. No feeling of being elite by helping someone out, Steam has been around for years and GOG is just starting out.
The pricing is ridiculous, yes. Though I still do like Steam.
But I'm a digital distribution fanboy anyway. 250+ games on Steam, approaching 50 on Gamersgate, similar on ImpulseDriven, and I think I just passed 80 on GoG.
Yes, I'm waving my e-peen about in a gratuitous display of bravado. Fear me.

Wow....So many games so little hard drive space....

Navagon: Given that Interplay are so keen to profit from old titles it's amazing how Planescape Torment has yet to resurface anywhere.

Miaghstir: Depending on wether they still have a license to sell their D&D games... like Codemasters and TOCA3/CMR2005. (Or if they're not allowed to sell anything based off the Planescape setting, given that WotC killed it.)
Either that, or it's too little action for the "modern gamer" (given that I've seen the Baldur's Gate series from time to time, though that was quite a while ago I saw it last).

Infogrames bought all rights to interplay's D&D games and rereleased IWD & BG series compilations in retail few years back. They also hold the licence to develop games based on D&D and other hasbro franchises until january 2016 plus an option for an additional 5 years based on performance. (see wikipedia for further details)
As for interplay being 'keen to profit from old titles', it's quite understandable as they have no new titles to sell and money have to come from somewhere.
As for Pancescape: Torment, it was available at at one point (but can't find it anymore). As to why ATARI did not release the game when they rereleased BG and IWD series, your guess is as good as mine. Funnily enough, CD Project Red rereleased the [url=http://www.cdprojekt.pl/game/234/Planescape_Torment]localised version this year (22.5.2009) in Polland :P. And it bears ATARI logo btw.

Gametap said that the licenses for Planescape, Baldur's Gate seris and the Icewind Dale series changed hands. Now Gametap has to make new deals with the new rights holder(s).

Weird, Infogrames/Atari bought the rights to all three series years ago (2004 or so) and as far as I can remember Gametap still offered the game(s) this year so what excactly has changed this year? When did Gametap remove them anyway?

Master911: i remember seeing the GoG Version of Fallout 1+2 on another site as an Illegal Download - some user were championing for GoG in that you should buy it (Which you Should)

That might have been me - I am a member of several torrent sites, due to the fact that I use them to release mods -I'm not able to afford my own website at the moment-, and always try to get GoD torrents closed. So far I've only seen three - and two of those are now dead due to community outrage, with the third dying. Some quotes include:
"You know, I would normally support such a torrent, seeing as Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 are two of the best games ever made, but GoG really should be supported."
"As much as I love torrents of old games, the GoG versions of games should be left be as purchase only. The whole point of torrenting good old games is that there is no manner to purchase them -- well now the aptly named GoG folks offer us these games, at fantastic prices, with performance tweaks so they operate on new OSes."
"I agree with [Username] on this one. If you find yourself actually enjoying these, please buy them from GoG.com - the site sells them at an extremely low price (less than a meal at a fast food joint) and has updated them to make them easy to run in Windows."

nice, how often do you actually play those games?
I don't really care. I already own the Fallout games on GOG, and about three times over on disc.
