while I was hoping for both BO1 and Soul Reaver, but hey I can live with just Soul Reaver for now as it was a great game in it's own right and in alot of case was better then BO1,but that's just me. Though I do hope whatever mess may be keeping the game from coming here get's resolved at some point.

As for everyone else people are always going to find something to complain about. A great example of this was Terraria, Redigit was releasing regular updates for the game in short amount of time but people were complaining that there wasn't enough new content, so he took 3 months to do 1.1 and made it the equivalent of a free expansion and during the entire development people were complaining that it was taking too long, I even seen people complain that it was free(no joke). Hell you can even use GOG as a example just look at how people react when a new game get's released but a old one doesn't and when a old game does get released guess what? "Pass" "Oh I didn't want that game" "oh you released this game but not this, this and this?" and so on.

Fact is people are going to complain no matter what, it's as the saying goes "You can please some of the people, some of the time but you will never please all the people, all the time." So why bother if people want to pointlessly complain let them, just ignore them as there going to keep defying logic and reason and keep thinking what they want to think.

You know what is funny: GOG don't push anybody to buy this games. If you are a fan of a game you buy it. And I think a lot of ppl like both of the releases.

To be honest I'm happy with Soul Reaver - damn nobody else is selling it... so yes GOG are special :) I will be even happier if they keep 2 release on Tuesday and 2 release on Thursday practice. It will be great.

gameon: Sure looks that way:

Perhaps they could release any free games on a Monday or Friday. Thats the only time they'd be able to fit it in!
Abandonware is not free :) But yet they could release some games that are freeware

It is like that for a long time :) They are trying for sure... patience is the key ;)

Roman5: Who is "whining"? I haven't really seen any of that

Regarding Myst V people were just confused as to why GOG would release 5 first and leave out 3 and 4 for later

I haven't seen anything but praise for the Soul Reaver release, with some people saying how great it would be to get Blood Omen
That's what I've been seeing too. I think people were on the whole quite happy with today's releases. You want to see complaining? Check out the release thread for Apache Longbow, where it was pretty much pages and pages of people complaining that it wasn't Anachronox (or SS 1/2, or the release of their choice). Or the release thread for Conflict: Desert Storm.

A lot of people don't like that Soul Reaver come out first...and yet nobody else is selling either Blood Omen or Soul Reaver....
It's mainly that the twitter post they made yesterday, "Feast upon the blood of man tomorrow" gave a lot of people hope for a release of Blood Omen - you don't feast upon the blood of men in Soul Reaver, but you do in Blood Omen.

Soul Reaver is a great addition to the catalogue but it's a well known game that was widely available before going out of "print" and its release on GOG was to be expected after they got SquareEnix on board, it was just a question of time. Blood Omen on the other hand is more of an underdog, very rare and highly sought after, so it's only sold for horrendous amounts on the second hand market. It's good to see Soul Reaver here, but since the Twitter post was kind of misleading, there's also a lot of disappointment on the part of people who were excited about the possibility of a Blood Omen release. And I guess the delay of the releases and the mystery about licensing issues contributed to that excitement and the ensueing disappointment.

So the issue is not so much with the game but once again with the marketing strategies, I guess.

Sure, but you can continue this argument ad infinitum. There will always be some who are happy with everything GOG does, others who are disappointed. People like to complain, then other people complain about people complaining. Is anyone of them more entitled to utter their opinion than the rest of them? GOG don't push anybody to read forum posts and comment on them either. If the point is: "Just shut up and do your own thing instead of getting upset by random things on the internet and sharing your opinion about it", you failed at that yourself, too. ;)

I want this post framed in the office of TET. This is the sanest and most comprehensive post I've read on this issue in a long time (apart from my own vastly superior posts, of course)

Heck, we should put that on the wiki.

+1 (as the kids say nowadays)

The threads about the new releases are not there to complain about ur favorite game isn't release yet. It is about comments of the released game ;) If I'm not happy about a game released by GOG I don't spam about it ;) Half of the posts in the Soul Reaver thread are about Blood Omen not on Soul Reaver that is my problem ;)

And btw show me where you can buy Soul Reaver digitally ;) Just to keep your whole post true

Soul Reaver on Amazon - Retail ($34.99)

Are you winking at me? ;)

I don't know, is there any official guideline what these threads are for? If so, I missed it. Is it so much more interesting to read that people love game XY than it is to read that they'd have preferred another? Blood Omen is connected to Soul Reaver and apart from the usual nagging there were also some quite informative posts about Blood Omen that might interest fans of the Legacy of Kain series.

I never claimed that you can buy it digitally. I wasn't even talking about "digital" and I certainly didn't mean to imply that Soul Reaver should not be on GOG. I just said that it's harder to get an affordable (retail) copy of Blood Omen than a copy of Soul Reaver, at least over here - of course, I can only speak for the local market:

Soul Reaver: EUR 29,95 (new, that's several times the original price of this budget edition; I guess it sold for EUR 10 at max at the time) or EUR 3,90 (used, incl. shipment)
http://www.amazon.de/Legacy-of-Kain-Soul-Reaver/dp/B00008HC75/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1335462711&sr=8-4

Blood Omen: EUR 80,00 (new) or EUR 25,49 (used, incl. shipment)
http://www.amazon.de/Legacy-of-Kain-Blood-Omen/dp/B0013055IS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1335462756&sr=8-1

Well, the difference over here is also that Soul Reaver was sold in a budget edition, while Blood Omen wasn't, so at least in Germany I'd guess that Soul Reaver is a lot more widely spread, but yeah, as I said, I'm probably looking at it from a perspective that's too narrow. No idea how the games were sold in other countries.
