Dear CD-Projekt....

I saw the Witcher Enhanced Edition for $8 and since I had left my original copy at home up the coast when I moved down and have no idea when I'll be able to get it again (it's buried in the boxes since my mum just moved back into her house - had been renting it out - etc etc etc) I decided what the heck and bought it.

Now, I'm at home, just completed installing it and here's the rub....

I've registered my login name, no problem BUT I'm trying to register it - and the game did not come with a manual, where it says the cd key should be... There's a sticker inside the case, but you know when it asks you to enter the code - it's one set too few.

Example:

I have (this is made up) esx99r-blah2-blah3-blah4

But to register it you need one extra set of alphanumerals, i.e.:
esx99r-blah2-blah3-blah4-blah5

And when I clicked the "if you experience problems click www.thewitcher.com/registration/support/" it took me to the Witcher 2 ad page, I clicked "go on to www.thewitcher.com" and it brings me to an invalid page...?!?!? Screenshot included.

Help?

Thanks in advance.

There is a way to get to the original Witcher section somewhere on that Witcher 2 page... I forget where, but I did it not long ago to get the patches.
Here is the Witcher 1 page: CLICK! The forum there is much more the place to post about this than here.

Also you don't need to register really, all the patches are hosted elsewhere and the DRM was removed.

GameRager: Did you try just entering the four sets and leaving the last blank?
Yes. The "submit" button refuses to turn whatever colour and "activate" so I can actually click it.

I know. That's not the point, really. I just WANT to register my game and get updates and cool stuff. *shrug* It's not about not being able to play the game, I'm just confused as to why it's not working.... Which seems a bit counter-productive IMHO.

Did you post over in, you know, CDP Red's forum? We're sister companies, but it's not like we have anything to do with how The Witcher's website is set up and maintained.

I bought The Witcher Enhanced about this time last year. Patched it up and tried to register. I could not register the game either. It had no affect on the game that I could tell. Fired it up and it plays fine even today. So . . . I would say it is no longer necessary to register the game.

The only problem I ever had was when I turned on Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for all programs. I got a pop up from The Witcher asking me to insert the disk. Put DEP back to its default setting and it never asked again. (XP Pro was the OS)

Great game BTW . . . =)

I think all the extras for registering are now freely available right? The enhanced edition patch and some of the modules were originally behind registration, but no longer.
Yeah it's all good guys, just wanted to register since CD Projekt are a company I fully support etc... *shrugs*

Thank god that despite having to uninstall the old version (I think I must have deleted the registry and thus fucked it) and reinstalling the Enhanced Edition, it still ran my old saves so I didn't have to do the whole first episode AGAIN. I've done it like, 10 times and well, you DO get sick of it.... Reasons include old computer dying, somehow having to format HDD, etc etc etc... Finally I'm now playing it on a serious rig and boy, the combat is SO much better now with NO glitches at all whatsoever. Such a fucking epic game.

Re-watched the intro movie. I really love how they mix serious, gritty themes and a totally kick arse movie with humor and wit. Excellent.

Can't wait to finally clock the damn game.

Question: any real tips on what to focus on - or do you eventually max out everything anyway?
I have a GTX 480 and a quad processor and I get low frames in some parts of The Witcher. It's just a bad engine.

GameRager: Do you run it in 7 or Vista? Cuz I get 20-22 FPS in some parts with no enemies and that is shite.
Win7 64bit... I don't think it ever goes that low, but it chugs a bit for sure.

Yea. Hopefully TW2 will be more optimized. TW1 is a total mess (talking about the installation process and the way the game data is set).
Interesting - I had a GTX 460 but I had a UD3R Rev-2 motherboard and discovered that there are compatibility issues with that...

So I now have a 5770 1gig (Same as you GameRager) BUT I do have 8gig 1600mhz DDR3 as well as an i7 930 chip....

Everything is on max with AA on 10 and AF on ... almost max. I dunno. *shrugs* Runs beayooootefully. :D

I wrote a reply on TW forums, there's a link to guide about getting a code.

Did you install the Directors Cut Patch? Not sure you need it as it is for the North American version only . . . but thought I would mention it just in case . . . =)

Edit: You need to apply the 1.5 patch if you haven't already.
