Poirot, definitely, and unlike that pansy Holmes he actually had the guts to kill somebody when need be.

Then again, if we're talking boxing, then there's no way that I could bet against Holmes.

As for intellect, it's generally agreed upon that Poirot is the brighter detective.

There was a game, as well as this: Shadows over Baker Street. Not canon, of course, but plenty of fun. My personal fanon has Holmes and the mythos meet though.

Columbo operates on a different level. He knows who committed the crime before it's even been committed.

Holmes is the ultimate detective. He has the complete mix of skills he needs to resolve problems by himself, honed to perfection. He's like Batman without the dependance on gadgets.

Detective Dee could take all of them in a fight, though.

It definitely isn't canon (the story is set in a parallel universe) but check out A Study In Emerald by Neil Gaiman. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I read only a little of Holmes and just about everything I could get my hands on of Poirot. He's by far my favorite. Yet I can't stand Miss Marple...
