...and I've played a handful missions at most, I probably got sidetracked by some other shiny. Oh well, my CE will have to wait for another time to be continued.

The cheapest I've ever seen it was at $50, and that was months ago. Right now $60 is the one and only price that Starcraft 2 is selling for (in Canada at least).

I've seen it a few times at $50 also. Even Amazon.com where their prices are usually much lower than retail in the USA still list it at $50. Meanwhile great games like Portal 2 have been on sale retail for $29.99 at several stores in the USA and Canada. What gives?

However, you can argue that Blizzard is constantly patching and updating their games, considering even Diablo 2 got a new patch not too long ago, and most developers forget about the games 2 months after release, unless there's an expansion coming.

They were still selling Diablo and Warcraft 3 battlechests for $20-30 years after most games would have hit the bottom of the bargain bin. But why not? Enough people must have been buying.

So does Valve. When is the source engine not updated (thankfully I uncehck update on all my steam games).

As for warchests, it's main game + expansions + guides + still regular updates + active multiplayer. That's pretty good value even at $20-$30.

Note: It should also give you the ability to play the full single player experience in guest mode.

i see that some of the same people that can't stop raging about Steam apparently have no problem with the fact that StarCraft 2 requires you to register with Blizzard's own digital platform - Battle.net - and activate your copy. interesting...

I dunno, maybe because it doesn't require a client to be constantly running, doesn't leak memory, there is 24/7 phone / email / twitter support available, they don't suspend / ban your account if a transaction fails...

... just saying, you know, like, maybe that is the case.

EDIT: Oh, and probably because they don't scan my system for whatever software I have running, and then publish the results online.
