gameon: It seems that the drm free link to darkfall (the server) is down. No download speed what-so-ever.

So its currently impossible to get that game, despite payment. Shocking.

Leroux: Yeah, so far I've got about 12 of 640mb in, what, 2-3 hours? And that's only the first file. Still stuck at 1%. What fun it will be downloading the game over the next couple of weeks. >:(

I also didn't know they're forcing their own download manager on you, instead of just offering a direct link.

EDIT: No, wait, the moment I wrote this, the downloader finally switched to 2%! Oh joy! :D
I seem to be getting better speeds than you, but not much better. I'm now on 20% after hours and hours.
I think the use of a small downloader (they use getright) is a smart move, because now you can easily stop and restart the download. Downloading the first bundle was really a mess, because for many times the site was down and you couldn't start downloading the games. Now you only need the downloaders and don't need to login the webpage.

The main problem is still the same - really bad server management. They need better servers and especially management. With first person shooters in the bundle they knew they have big games with multiple gigabytes to download, such a high server demand shouldn't be really a surprise for them. Again the lesson seems that it's always better to wait after the first waves and buy the bundle when the big run is over and server capacities are improved.

Edit: For me this means I will wait downloading the games. I'm not in the urge to play the games, but I can totally understand when someone is really upset about the situation and I also would expect working downloads from the start. I can understand when someone is new in the business and there are some problems, but they already did a bundle and knew about the server problems.

Are any of these games worth getting? I haven't really heard of any of them, and the response on these forums seems kind of lukewarm aside from Dark Fall.
First post edited with some information, tell me if you think I should add anything else.

Apart from Dark Fall, Xotic is an interesting game. A first person score attack game, worth checking out just because it is so different. BEEP is a fun puzzle/platformer and Sideways is a solid 2d platformer (though I found the music to be horrendous and had to turn it off after a while). I've also heard that The Ball is supposed to be quite fun, but I've not played it yet.
One of the reasons why the response has been so lukewarm is because many of these have been in previous bundles. Caster, Necrovision, LightFish, UberSolider 2, Dakr Fall & Diamond Dan are new.
Ok, very weird development... That was a reply to my question as to why Dark Fall is through a weird downloader and all the other games are hosted normally.

Now it's clearly through a downloader, but I discovered something else since they tweeted this. When I briefly lost net connection, the downloader complained that it couldn't connect to strategyfirst.com.

Clearly the game isn't being hosted by them either. I don't think they're deliberately lying though, I think they were sent the downloader by the publisher and just assumed it was the game.

EDIT: Just occurred to me that it would be funny if the publisher's intention was for Groupees to use that downloader to download the game for them to host themselves.

If that's the case, that would be very inattentive of them, the file isn't even a megabyte in size. I would also expect them to notice that a Steam key is missing. After all, it's just 12 games they have to check and they're taking money for them.

gameon: I emailed their support twice. They have been very friendly/helpful so far, and said that they are looking into both the darkfall steam key issue, and also the slow server problems. Good customer support is a good sign to be honest.
Good customer support makes for Brownie points, but a better strategy is to try and avoid such issues in the first place, and these ones here seem avoidable (I'd cut them some slack for slow download speed, but not for the missing key and the strange downloader story). I'm not mad or anything, I'll patiently wait and hope they sort things out and if they do, it's not a a big deal to me. I'm just saying, for them it should be a big deal, because they're handling big sums of money and things like this can damage their reputation.

gameon: The darkfall downloader allows pause/resume. The one for necrovision was just a normal downloader. Both were dreadfully slow. And both are several gigabytes in size.

Unless they are downloaded through steam, we wont be getting the games downloaded any time soon!
When I downloaded Necrovision there wasn't a downloader at all, it was just a 5GB zip file. What kind of downloader?

gameon: Thats what i meant by a normal download. The darkfall one had a special download app. Both were slow/not working.
Oh, I was confused because you said "normal downloader". Necrovision had much better speeds than Dark Fall for me.
Bit of an update: https://twitter.com/Groupees1/status/205068342980128768

Considering both of the fuckups are with the same game, I'm starting to wonder if the key problem is the dev/publisher's fault too. Perhaps they didn't give them the keys on time?

gameon: I will probably try again in a week or so. But surely the steam version would download fast? I might download Nikopol because its steam only anyway.
Probably, but as there's no Dark Fall key... >.<

I'm having massive problems downloading "Ubersoldier 2". Download speed was acceptable for about 2 seconds, then it slowed down to about 2K/sec for a couple of hours (and about one week of remaining download time), now it doesn't even connect anymore (though the downloader says "resumed 2 times"). The other games downloaded fine (I bought all DRM-free games from the bundle except Necrovision and Dark Fall), but the Ubersoldier seems to have capitulated to the sheer number of requests.

Edit: Now it has resumed for the third time, downloaded for about 3 seconds, and then stopped again.

Soo... umm... am I the only one totally perplexed about NecroVisioN? I downloaded the 5GB zip file, and inside of it is an... ISO? Wow, what a bunch of clowns these people are. At least this version is supposed to be DRM-free, but it's reassuring to know that they don't want to make it easy.

7zip, opening it through explorer, File Roller, all of them claim that the zip is invalid. I've tried downloading it twice. Same file size (5,338,611,412 bytes) and MD5 checksum (c9301a51c1fee3ce6b013b79ecb21b99) both times. I'm guessing somebody here has had success or this issue would have been brought up by now. Do I have to bother with Winrar or something, or is this package just corrupt?

As for Dark Fall: Lost Souls and Ubersoldier II, I managed to download 5MB of Ubersoldier II in three hours. Haven't even bothered trying Dark Fall yet. No key for Dark Fall, either. They really dropped the ball here. I suppose I'll have to check back in a few weeks when they've hopefully sorted all of this out. No rush, and I'm glad they finally went with DRM-free copies this around, but they're not very good at this sort of thing, are they? :/

Yeah, I already emailed their support about NecroVision.

I downloaded it twice (!) and it was corrupted both times. I compared the checksums of both downloads and they were identical (same as yours as well), so it's obviously corrupted at the source.

They're supposedly working on this one now.

They also thought they were hosting Dark Fall directly, they didn't notice that they were just hosting a downloader (that was programmed to download from Strategy First's servers). I'm willing to bet that the situation is the same for Ubersoldier 2 based on Psyringe's above post.

Because of the missing key for Dark Fall, it's been basically unplayable for everyone except those lucky enough to manage downloading it from Strategy First's obviously overloaded servers. They've uploaded a proper .zip of Dark Fall now though, I'm half way through downloading it.

gameon: UH OH! (i'm just over 1gb done so far. So you're saying it will corrupt no matter what i do?)
It depends, how long ago did you start it? They only became aware that it was corrupted this afternoon (BST). The last thing I heard was "We've contacted the dev regarding this issue and I will report back once I hear. Sorry about that!", so it's unlikely they've fixed it yet.
