Well, then apprecieate that gog is nothing like this and ALSO gives away free game codes. Hundres of them.

You can't find any distributing company that generous, so complaining about it is just... weird.

Do what I did and go through the ENTIRE catalog and wishlist all your favorite titles for future sales and such.

The only thing Steam has is DRM, apart from that there is nothing wrong with the service.

This is what I am trying to get at......it reminds me of(which is why I joked about it a bit) when Carnival said Microsoft's .net software was spyware. 0.o

Steam is some kind of spyware. It gathers information about all applications installed in Program Files.

this looks kind like a proof:

Hmmm how strange , been using Steam for 7 years , have nearly 300 games and never noticed any spyware or anything else for that matter , post like this are totally unfounded and just a little paranoid dont you think ?

I second that. It took a while (and I now have a frighteningly massive wishlist ;) ), but it'll allow me to make quick decisions during the upcoming sales. :)

If you aren't doing anything illegal, you have nothing to worry about.

Yeah, they've said the same in Orwell's 1984 about installing cameras in each home :)

Steam app gathers information about your PC Valve doesn't NEED to sell their games, so someone may call it spyware-like activity.

Most PC games do that as well, usually. I dunno the technical reasons why but they do.

Yep, and I think the reason is aperture science like

"Because we can"

:)

Back to the topic: there was also some giveaway contest on gog, with crossword puzzles, etc etc.

there was also a prize for completing the gog.com annual survey

Gog.com makes ALL KINDS of giveaways, and Im grateful for each one (I have one one game today and that's all, but I participate in all of them)
