Okay, I've been following this trainwreck of a thread all day, and I have a few observations to make.

1. Judas made a faux pas. He was a bit too eager to fulfill his new role, and ended up sticking to the letter of the law, rather than the intention behind it. We all know and respect him (at least I assume most of us do), and I don't think any of us seriously hold it against him. Judas, I still love you man ;-)

2. It seems that it is generally agreed upon, even by TET, that censorship was not in fact needed in this case. I see no reason why the title should not simply be changed back, so everyone can get on with their lives (even though the discussion has been interesting).

3. Some of the posts here seem to focus on the word "ass" being, by definition, a swear word. That is ridiculous. For one thing, as evidenced by my earlier bible quote, is has more than one meaning. For another, there is a huge difference between calling someone an ass, using the word in sexual references or simply using a variation of the expression "to kick ass". It's all about context, see? Personally, I think that anyone who is offended by the term "to kick ass" has absolutely no business being on the forum of a site which sells Postal 2. And pretending that "GOG kicks ass" is somehow "bad language" in this day and age is laughable.

4. The change made to the title is pointless. If someone posts an article on recent advances in fly-by-wire technology, I don't want the thread title to read "The roosterpit of the Airbus 330". There really needs to be common sense involved in any kind of censorship. Blindly following mechanical rules will not end well.

1. Agreed......I mean you can't help but love the taffer. Well in a totally platonic way, that is. ;)

2. The thread HAS been alot more active since it changed tracks, at any rate......and we all learned just how much GOG kicks ass by TeT's awesome "save" of the situation earlier.

3. Yeah, it's all about context, and in this case(at least) the word "ass" being considered a swear is totally off base.

4. Agreed 100%
Well, since Gog asks us to stop swearing in the thread title, I guess I can live with that. Even if this thread is a silly example (but people should use glues maximus more it's a nice word).

But we can still swear as much as we fucking want aftwerwards, i hope. Because I'd like to use language freely without silly restrictions on "bad" words.

I feel like I should throw in a quick apology here (especially to TET). Seems like lately I've been poking fun at the "censorship" thing, but in actuality I don't mind it, and even view it as a good thing in some situations.
Here's an example of a thread title that actually offends me a little bit whenever I see it spammed again - "Actual Diablo 3 discussion: Please don't mention the ******* DRM". The word "Actual" offends me. If "fucking" would have been spelled out in place of the *******, I wouldn't have been offended at all with the profanity. I feel like I need to petition GOG to take out the word "Actual" and then make it "Diablo 3 gameplay discussion: Please don't mention the fucking DRM". I would like that better.

xyem: There is a huge difference between a polite request, and enforcing compliance with said request.. where the forced compliance severely undermines the politeness of it.

Kind of like a mugger trying to claim you willingly complied to his polite request for your valuables and that the loaded gun he was waving in your face was irrelevant.

Would you kindly revert this topic back to its original wording?
This also sounds like the consent of the governed argument that I hear quite often.

This is now my favourite thread on gog.com.

GameRager: Someone should tell GOG about the swearing in such titles as ASSassin's creed. 0.o
In Diablo 2 the different character classes are abbreviated like this:

Barbarian: Bar
Amazon: Ama
Sorceress: Sor
Necromancer: Nec
Paladin: Pal
Druid: Dru
Assassin: Asn
So we aren't allowed to use "Ass" in the title of topics anymore?

What's next?

http://themediablog.typepad.com/the-media-blog/2011/12/virgin-media-censorship-gone-mad.html

Is GOG going to end up like this as well?

Just in case someone gets offended. It's still retarded though.
No one made a "Hide yo butts 'cause GOG is censoring everybooty!" thread...

I feel like this didn't live up to it's fullest potential.

And this is what happens when you don't know how to program a simple script....
