I find it asinine that people are whining about GOG announcing Mac support. So, I guess they like the announcement, but hate how it was announced...whaaa?

Comparing GOG to other distributors is inapplicable. Other places often just sell games. GOG has to work to make older games compatible with newer systems.

How people are equating what GOG does to what HIB does evades me. Gotta complain about something, I guess.
Just a day or two after I figured out the workaround to get these games working on my Mac (which is standing brotherly next to my PC btw, but still) this updates pops up in my email. Thank you for reading my mind GOG!

I will spend some more money now.

dr.zli: I for one can't wait more Mac users to come to this forum! It will be just like Brooklyn!
That's better than their arrival being treated as from a West Side Story ;)

Gee, look at that. Mac users coming out of the woodwork to say thanks and maybe buy a game or two.

I think this will work out well for GOG in the long run. I'm indifferent to Macs myself. Never owned one and never cared to own one. But there's no denying that reaching out to a new segment of the market is a good thing.

But I hate how they announced Mac support. It rustles my jimmies!!!!!

;)
A hearty welcome to our Mac brethren.
Thanks GOG, will make loading up my Mac laptop with games rather easy. Though I mainly use my Windows PC for gaming. Great to see in roads to getting more customers on board let's hope apple don't restrict installs eventually to their iTunes store only (they keep nudging little by little in that direction).

I hope the linux folks get some love, one reason I go the humble bundles is the flexibility of another platform for gaming, just in case. But I understand you would be worried about supportability (wouldn't surprise me if some countries consumer laws make it difficult if you offer a not well supported product), even if you have a disclaimer there will always be some who think if you supply it you support it.

Good outcome so far. So come on apple fan boys / girls put down the iTunes, it's with GOG you should play.
Even though I don't currently care for Macs (other than that it is always good there is some direct competition, also towards Microsoft), I like this news for two reasons:

- It shows GOG is willing to evolve and extend their business.

- If Mac gamers get hooked to existing GOG Mac games, maybe at some point they want to get rest of them too, and get also a PC for playing them? :)
Hey GOG is the Mac Version of "Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings, The (AU)" classified as the same game. I'm just wondering if it has the same content "Edits" the windows version got. I'm just thinking that as it wouldn't have been distributed by that publisher in Australia that dictated the censoring, that maybe it is the International version?
---- pretty please ? I so hope they didn't have Mac distribution rights for physical copies.
Congratulations to the mac owners. Just wondering something though. I grew up my whole life with windows and I like the operating system. What does Mac have to offer me to switch sides? Just curious. Also at art schools, all they use are macs. I remember having to operate a mouse with 1 button and holding crtl down and click for 'right click'. That's just... illogical.

I agree mac mice just don't work for PC users. I think it comes down to look we made mouse we think looks good, it may not work well but we can't admit it was a mistake (no it is a design choice) so mac users are stuck with it. Yes I don't really think logic ever came into it.

I'm pretty sure you can use a "normal" mouse with a mac though, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

TomNook: A hearty welcome to our Mac brethren.
Thank you very much. It is appreciated.

I am very thankful GOG has chosen to support the platform I now love to use and game on. This morning after perusing the forms, I am buying 5 new games for my Mac from GOG. Ah, it feels so good to say that and to be able to do that!

Fun times in OS X, here we come!!!

This Apple fan boy is onboard with GOG for sure! I am so happy about this!

There is no need. Every GOG can be played right now on a Mac via one means or another. The options include Dosbox with Boxer, WINE/Wineskin, Parallels running Windows in a virtual machine on the OS X desktop or lastly, rebooting the Mac into Windows using bootcamp. There is no windows game out today that I cannot play on my iMac. :D

Adding Macintosh with official support = smart. I just hope the platform wars don't start. face it, it's fucking stupid. If you have the greenbacks, go with both platforms. I did.

People that own Macs play games? Who knew?

I always thought 'Mac gamer' was an oxymoron, like 'sports personality' or 'academic fraternity'

Kidding of course, I'm happy that the one-button hipsters can join us in playing the classics and supporting GOG =)
So far all the Mac available games are just simple DOSbox ports or already natively available for Mac. I wonder if GOG would ever look into porting Windows based games with Cider/Wine. That would be something truly unique and great.

The current Apple Magic mouse does support right clicking. It also supports swiping to navigate through documents and Web pages. It's a rather nice mouse once you get used to it. That said, I think gamers, including me really need some form of traditional 2 button mouse for gaming. To that end I got a Logitech Performance Mouse MX and I love the thing. It works perfectly with my iMac.
