As our catalogue gets bigger and better every week, it’s easy to lose track of some of the awesome games that we have to offer. Of course [url=http://www.gog.com/en/catalogue#all_genres/search/fallout/]Fallout, Baldur’s Gate, and some other of our most popular titles will always get a lot of attention, but GOG has many more classics to bring you. To help encourage you to explore the dustier reaches of GOG’s catalogue, we’re going to be offering a promo on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Think of it as a curated promo on some of GOG’s favorite titles that you may not have played. Whether we’re encouraging you to explore incredible new worlds or inviting you to see how a titanic series got its start, we think every game we’re going to be offering on our GOG Gem Promos will be an excellent title, and we hope you give them all a try.

All right, the game's fun, but the controls are HORRIBLE

after a couple of laps you'll get a hold of it :) also be aware that the more your opponents hit you (or the more you hit the surroundings ;), the worse the controls will be, pick up the "repair" bonus asap!
Normally this would move me but I don't have much to spend on the holiday sale, so pass.
Seems like a great game and the price is Right

bought :)
Debating whether to get this or just wait for the holiday sales...

Noitalevier: Hidden Gem promos usually last 24 hours. :)
Thanks for the info: won't be able to get it in time :(

Oh whatevs, theres still the Holiday Sale!
Ultimate childhood favorite. Was a blast in my (awesome) 75MHz Pentium machine with Logitech Wingman joystick back in the day.

Unfortunately keyboard controls don't do it justice. Got to see if this version has any support for analog controls...
Given how budget-priced the GOG catalog already is, all this will do is spell the end of my wallet.
I think GOG uses some kind of mindreading, because I thought - as this game is on my personal wishlist - I'll buy this game in the Christmas promo. Now I think I won't wait until then, I'll buy this game now.

lowyhong: Think of it as Wipeout meets arcade flight sim. Some of the maps are awful e.g. the jungle tracks, but it's not enough to pull down the overall quality of the game. Races are very exciting as you try to outrun and outgun your opponents.

MonstaMunch: From the 10 minutes I just spent playing, this seems like it would be about right. Sadly, it seems that there's only first person perspective, which makes it pretty much unplayable for me. Never mind, it was worth a shot :)
I remember there being 4 cam views - FPS, chase, front and cinematic. Did you try the F1-F12 keys?

MonstaMunch: I was wrong - F buttons change the view. Awesome game, awesome price. Thanks gog.

I did, eventually, and ended up having a great time with the game last night. I'm going to go to the market later to see if I can find a joystick.... :D

A joystick will be neat for the game. I used to play it with the Gravis gamepad. Good times.
Ooo... nice surprise.
This was one of my fav games when I was a kid. This is an enjoyable racing game.
I was planning to get this.
Thanks GOG!
If GOG ever manage to release High Octane with the possiblity to run on Windows 7 I will be the first to buy it ;)

Indeed... that's a golden one... Unfortunately it wasn't playable on newer systems because of the speed being insanely high.
