I like seeing "FREE" in the GoG's price list and in the corner of the cover. Could we have more of those? Formerly commercial games that are old, may be good and would look nice on the virtual shelf.

1. Iron Seed - Star Control 2-ish, Starflight-ish game.. Released in 1994, offered by the developer along with 2007 patch in the forums there.

2. Enemy Nations. RTS meets complex resource management. For some reason. Resides here. You might want to get the source code

3. Everything listed on this page. Namely, godlike Abuse (maybe you can find that Jeremy Scott guy who coded the Windows port), Boppin (there's a Win port but nvidia killed 320*200 support *shakes stick*), SkyRoads (recently remade by fans as Tasty Static) and TerraFire.

4. With EA in GoG's reach could the freely released C&C titles get a place over here? With the necessary fixes ;)

5. Death Rally. Not the new one, the old one.

6. Marathon series, via Aleph One. Before Bungie went Halo

7. Warzone 2100. DotEmu already got it ;)

I would pay 9.99 personally...free of course would rock harder though ;D
One Must Fall 2097

It's already freeware and would look awesome on my shelf. Make it happen GOG! ;-)
I absolutely suck at using Dosbox, so I would love if the first two Elder Scroll games were on here.

Bethesda won't even allow scans of their manuals anywhere, like replacementdocs, what are the odds of them sharing games...

Oh, just remembered. Ultima IV. http://www.ultimaforever.com/
EA took the free C&C titles down a while ago.

Also GTA 1, 2 and Wild Metal Country are free. But GOG would need Take-Two to begin with.

They took down the huge banners and links announcing them, but archives still host them and the official forums have threads with links.
I'm all for this, as long as the effort and bandwidth isn't too much trouble. It puts all these games conveniently into the hands of all members, gives us a good reason to talk about them here, and can introduce newer and younger members to games they might not be familiar with without any reason not to give them a try.

Plus, I mean, if the moment you sign up for GOG, you find your shelf already has a healthy number of free games (providing most of them are good) and extras, I'd think that does quite a number as far as first impressions go. Then again, the entitled generation tends to bitch and moan even when something is free (i.e. "My game won't download going back to Steam lol!", "Free game doesn't work on Windows 7 GOG is trash!", and "This free game has no extras and expansion I'm never coming back to GOG again!"), so I suppose we'd have to see about that. -_-;
Death Rally, yes!i would even buy it for 5.99.saw it just other day and wanted to wright something about it ;)

C&C Tiberium Sun!

Check out ArenaSetup and DaggerfallSetup. They set up everything for you as with a GOG installer, including Start Menu shortcuts and so forth.

Thanks for posting this back up! I've been looking around for this. Thanks.

GTA 1&2 are free?!? GOG! What are you waiting for?!?
Even if some games are/were released as freeware GOG can NOT just put them on the list here. Every game, even freeware, needs to be signed with its developer. GOG is not "free site", it is a game business so they need permission to use them.

The same goes for everything else, including even free game demos.
cOOL IDEA (caps lock off, sorry)

How about the old text-only Apple Adventure, aka Collosal Cave Adventure? Is it freeware/abandonware?

Yeah, lots of versions floating around even the ones from before it was briefly sold. http://www.wurb.com/if/game/1 Not to mention free ports to other languages.

Those early IF titles are, well... early days. Weak parser, lack of good compression algorithms to hold long descriptions, silly puzzles, barebones plot.

Finding copyright holders can be an extra pain.
