ShogunDarius: the thing he does after vice and the reason he gets put in Arson, no backstory as to why he did that
MAJOR SPOILERS

Cole had fell in love with Elsa (notice all of the cutscenes where he had been at the Blue Room watching Elsa sing with lovestuck eyes). It is implied by the look on Cole's face the first time meeting Elsa that he had actually fallen in love with her at first sight.

As for why he got put into arson... he had been demoted because he was seen as getting to close to discovering the corruption of the department. Roy set Cole up... he waited outside Elsa's apartment & when he saw Cole enter her apartment he used the info against him. He sold then sold the info to the Mayor (with partial motivation being to cover his own corruption) of Cole cheating on his wife with Elsa (who was a german morphine addict *note that this game takes place shortly after WWII... Germans weren't exactly liked by US citizens*) to make him out to be a dishonorable & untrustworth cop (as seen in the aforementioned newspaper). They had to wait until his hearing to decide if he deserved to be fired over the "shame" that he had brought the department & in the mean time demoted him to arson (the desk of lowest importance) because they didn't want him working high profile cases during this time.

END SPOILERS

Not really a plot hole in my eyes.

i'm sorry but if i look at a girl in the street that doesnt mean i'm just gonna chuck my family and everything just so i can go jump her bones, the reasons why he did that were never explained before or after the event, i understand the consequences that is explained quite well in the story, but the reason he did that was not.

His family is hardly ever mentioned in the game or shown, the few times they are briefly mentioned is to say he is married and iirc he has a kid. the only time his wife is mentioned by any character his partner insults her and he quite anfrily defends her, that leads to the opposite conclusion.

I'm sorry but that is a major plothole which effects a major event in the game, it ruined the game for me

here cole's a family man oh wait no he just cheated out of the blue with no explanation

and he showing up at the club where she works to see her sing is no way on earth a decent lead up to a betryal like that, the game was all about good storytelling but that one part just broke the flow and i lost interest
end spoilers

Cole was a flawed hero... he was from the beginning (you can tell that by watching his army flashbacks).

I really don't feel like typing it all out, but if you want to know the reason, visit the following link....

i'm not sure i buy it tbh, at the very least they should have told that part so much better than they did, they failed in delivering that part of the story

and yeah i get cole was a flawed hero, not sure if him being called hero is right though
Did anyone mention Dragon Age 2 yet?

Oh, EVERYONE did?

Me too. +1.

tfishell: I get the feeling that GTAIV, since it's essentially set in NY, that your options are mostly street and sidewalk, lots and lots of grey.
avatar
Roberttitus: While I really don't like the GTA series all that much (I much prefer Saints Row), I really don't agree with that statement. You can fly, drive boats & swim. Not to mention that there are plenty of parks in the game & Star Junction which is one of the most colorful places I have seen in any sandbox game to date.
Oh okay. In GTA:SA, in some sections of town, where the buildings were small, you could jump from rooftop to rooftop, and I guess I assumed it was mostly skyscraper after skyscraper in IV. Parks make sense, but are there any "forest-y" sections? I'll have to YT 'Star Junction' at some point; it sounds interesting.

Not that I recall... & there really aren't any mountains either. As for Star Juction, it is basically the game's version of Times Square. Still I wouldn't exactly recommend GTA IV. I beat it (in fact it is the only game in the series *minus GTA IV: Lost & the Damned* that I actually beat), but it really isn't as good as it is made out to be.
oh i remember 2 others thing that dissapointed me in la noire, 1 radio station, seriously 1? even mafia 2 had 3, and due to there only being one i got fed up of that station quickly, and the more annoying thing, you cant turn the radio off.

Hmmm, my computer can't run it right now, but I'd probably get it cheap at some point for the sake of at least having another world to mess around in. Then again, I still haven't played Saints Row, so maybe I should consider that. :P

Yeah... that got to me too. I really wanted to turn that fucking thing off so bad...

Do you own a PS3 or a Xbox 360? If not then I highly recommend against Saint's Row as well. I heard that Saint's Row II was terrible one the PC.

Bah, now that you mention it, I do recall reading that somewhere on this forum or thread. (Did you say it earlier, lol?) No, I'm not a console guy. :P Maybe I could pick up a used copy really cheap on eBay or something, because even if I don't finish the game, as I said earlier it might be fun to mess around in the world. But I'll probably play GTAIV before that (if I can get it for $25>) to screw around in the world, although my computer upgrade probably won't occur until 2014. :P
Oh my, where to begin?

Definitely Duke Nukem Forever. DNF is soulless, empty and depressing. The jokes are just rude and unfunny, the gameplay is terribly slow and unsatisfying, story is stupid, and overall playing this crap is an embarassing experience. Every, every big shooter made between Duke3d and DNF is much better, counting even Daikatana, than this shell of a game.

Redneck Rampage. Loved Duke Nukem, Shadow Warrior and Blood, so my hopes were high for this. Boring levels, muddy colors, terrible enemy/weapon strength balance, overall an example of gimmick game. (Loved the soundtrack, tho!)

Painkiller Resurrection. It looks like it's not that easy to make simple, Quake'ish shooter with tons of monsters to kill. Where to begin? Horrible abuse of the engine, forcing it to make things which it isn't supposed to (like big, open levels a'la Serious Sam), atrocity of multiplayer (screwed weapon models and game crashes after using one of them!), lack of promised co-op mode, null atmosphere... even Overdose was better, because at least it had some original thought in it and some levels were fun.

Unreal 2 - The Awakening. Never was a big fan of the non-Tournament entries of the series, but definitely U1 is a great game. U2 kills every piece which made original a remarkable entry in shooters history - weak and bizzare weapons, TERRIBLE story, laughable monsters (what they did to Skaarjs?), the overall feeling that at some point, Halo became a big influence in the development. To be fair, the game still looks good.

Prince Of Persia - Sands of Time and all the next games of the series. People hyped this game for me, telling me it's just as good as the original, which I was playing to death as a kid. No, it's not. The controls are designed for monkeys, and the overall fluidity of Prince's movements is very, very distracting.
Hunted - The Demon's Forge
-lots of bugs
-lots of crappy animations
Did i mention the huge number of bugs?

I will say this about GTA IV if you are considering getting it.... it has the best story in the series, but it has the most annoyances associated with it. Keep that in mind (on a side note, you can find the GTA IV complete pack on Steam for $7.50 from time to time, so that may help you out a bit).
i gotta add one more...its starcraft 2..let me clear this.this is very good game...for multiplayer people.i myself was never into that, more singleplayer, storytelling type.theres my point.story in sc2 is dissaster, its for 7-year olds!!soundtrack not bad,sc1 better.zerg as a race disappointed me the most of all
