Yeah, people keep saying that but oddly enough the first words I usually learn are stuff like "hello", "yes" and "no".

Depends who you hang out with, I suppose that says a lot about me.

Althought to be honest, the first sentences (not words) I learnt in Flemish (and from my coworkers) were "will je neuken?" and "Je heb lekker titten". They allowed for quite a bit of hilarity though.

Sentences like "not too spicy, please" where vital for my survival in Indonesia, too.

Awesome. You have no idea how hilarious these sound to German-speaking people. And yeah, it's instantly obvious what they mean.
