Weclock: I highly recommend the need to post a response before being able to +/- 1 someone.

That sure is a good idea, but I'd be afraid of 'lolz you're wrong' responces...

Understandable, but it helps to paint the character who said 'lolz ur wron' as a complete moron for not clearly presenting his views in a respectable manner.

I can see it now:
You're wrong. -1
No, YOU'RE wrong. -1
You're wrong, x2. -1
Wrongo you are SOOOO wrong. -1
Lather, rinse and repeat... ;)
I am sad to say that on two occasions I have by accident clicked the wrong rating button. They could be on completely different sides of the post without negative effect, or we could have the ability to change our rating, which would be nice. I don't know offhand whether or not you can "re-rate" after someone edits, but if you can't that's another reason we should be able to alter our ratings. Not to mention that sometimes I change my mind...
Pheonix - as per Weclock I am responding to say I gave a +1 for the above post! :)

+1's all around. I highly believe that you should be allowed to change your vote, especially since the poster is allowed to edit his comment.
I believe the Supreme Court should intervene, just in case a vote might be counted in a way that is unfair.

I think votes shouldn't be counted electronically, either.
And anyway, the elections are over, so no more voting for anybody :-D

deathkitten: (just wanted to annoy the merkins who bring their politics up EVERYWHERE in any thread any website...!)

oh those wacky yanks and their elections!
Political humor! ye be warned!
To be honest, I don't really care about the rep system one way or the other. I suppose it is a nice way to reward people that make really helpful posts. Or to warn you about possible trolls.

I believe those of us who have an issue with the current system only have an issue with it because a post auto-hides when it receives a negative rating, and not every post with negative ratings deserve it.
Just some clarification :)

Ahh. Gotcha. Pretty sure you can disable it from doing that though. There is a checkbox down by the search/new post button that lets you enable/disable that.

+1 for the reminder :)
