Sony was really good too, but the middle of the conference was really boring, then it went good again till the end. Luckily 80% of the event wasn't only about Move, like MS was about Kinect. Sony was too long for a conference, if they cut the PSP and some of the length it would be on par with Nintendo.
The Zelda Wii fail really helps to promote the accuracy of Sony's Move. I don't know if MS faked or not some gameplays of Kinect, but I'm sure they're capable of doing something like this. The press seems to have hated that poncho's event for Kinect.
EA was just the right amount of goodness and pace, but they are only a publisher and not one of the big three.
I won't buy a Wii because there's only like 5 to 10 titles that I'd be interested for it, but that 3DS really got me thinking... looks like it will have a decent library for adults. I'll wait and see more of it, as I've never owned a DS or a PSP, but I guess in the end I'm not that kind of gamer and I have limited money (and I choose to spend on better things).
Yep that was a real fail, the game's own designer getting beaten by his own demo.
I don't care about Zelda anyway, and I won't judge the whole Nintendo conference based only on one game's fail. Nintendo delivered this year what they didn't on others, and I hope they really deliver their 3DS library soon.
No more conferences. Now it's just the show floor and closed-doors demos for the press I guess.

And QuakeCon, in which we will see gameplay for Rage and a debut trailer for Doom 4. And now with Bethesda games on the show, since they bought id.

No, not really. But on the one hand, you have the people who grew up on Nintendo and are now grown up. On the other hand, you have the people, like me, who didn't grow up on Nintendo and are now grown up.
I don't have any nostalgic feelings about any of the platforms, games or characters. As far as I'm concerned, Nintendo is for kids, and has very little to offer me. Their platforms are consistently behind everyone else on the technical side of things. Their interfaces are simplistic and awkward. Their games are cutesy and/or very Japanese (I don't have anything against the Japanese in general, I should say).
The few "grown up" games I've seen on their various platforms are usually ports from other platforms, and usually suffer from horrible control schemes and/or extreme simplifications necessitated by the much lower capabilities of the Nintendo platforms compared to the platforms the games were originally made for.
Of course, these are just opinions. No doubt lots of people will point out how wrong those opinions are ;-)

It is wrong, Nintendo games aren't cutesy and/or very Japanese, they're VERY cutsey and EXTREMELY japanese!

If there is one thing I'd like any company to take from the Wii it's the two piece controller.
I want them to design a regular controller that is simply split in half. After playing some Wii games that didn't need constant use of the IR pointer I realized how comfortable it was to play a game with my hands more than two inches apart. I want a standard controller that is basically like two nunchuck attachments modified to add the extra buttons a regular controller would have. They could probably even keep the accelerometer and cram a rumble device into both of them.
But noooo... they all want us to flail around even more.

Monkey Island 2 Special Edition E3 trailer
Haha it's great! A bit disappointing though the game won't look like that.

Well based on what I've seen and heard concerning E3, I was most impressed by Nintendo due to the 3DS handheld, the announcement of a new Kid Icarus game for it, and the new Zelda for the Wii.
I actually like the Nintendo Wii and I'm glad that I own one since it does have good games that use motion controls in a way that makes sense like Madworld (horizontal swings for horizontal attacks, vertical swings for vertical attacks), Red Steel 2, and Mario Galaxy. Also, I certainly wouldn't say that Nintendo is for kids considering there are games intended for more mature players like Madworld, Red Steel 2, No More Heroes, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, and other titles that do not have the letter E in the rating box on the cover. The games that do have an "E" in the rating box on the cover are not necessarily for kids only since anyone can enjoy the Mario games. As for the lack of HD, I do enjoy looking at the HD graphics on my Xbox 360 games but I play games for fun and not to just stare at graphics. A game just has to be fun and there are fun games on the Wii as well as the 360 and PS3. Also, there have been Wii games that still look good, just not as good-looking as 360 or PS3 titles.
The 3DS really seems impressive since it is much more powerful than the original DS so it is not simply "another DS." I've seen what some the games that are coming for it are going to be, some of which are ports of games that I haven't played through, and it looks like it is definitely going to be worth picking up for me.
Microsoft's conference wasn't that great since they did spend a bit too much time talking about Kinect which seems impressive but doesn't catch my interest that much but they did show off gameplay for Gears of War 3 which I really am looking forward to getting (2011 sadly cannot come any faster) and Halo: Reach. I like the Fable games and the trailer for Fable III was pretty cool and I'd like more info on the game that being released for the Xbox 360 from Crytek. Overall, Microsoft conference was okay but it was the Gears of War 3 and Halo: Reach gameplay that saved it.
I haven't actually seen or heard much about the Sony conference so I can't talk much about it but I will say that I wish they would not try to push 3D home entertainment so fast right now especially in this current economy. Yes, the Nintendo 3DS is pushing for 3D but it doesn't require buying an expensive new TV or wearing those glasses.

I liked Nintendo's conference as it was the most entertaining of the shows. Sure, I'll probably not pick up anything shown (with the exception of Golden Sun DS, which I cannot wait for) but they kept announcing new games and the 3DS looks very interesting. Microsoft conference was sleep inducing, I don't really care for any of the franchises. The Sony conference was also incredibly dull, I only woke up once they were showing off Little Big Planet 2 and Twisted Metal. I'm not convinced that the move is a worth while investment and will probably hold off buying one for quite a long time yet.

Well I have a spare 360 controller and a new jigsaw, I could whip up a prototype. The downside of a design like that is doubling the complexity and power needed to run the things, you'd need to power 2 seperate vibrators and 2 seperate transmitters which would have to either synch with each other in a child/parent manner and then the parent synchs with the console or both parts would have to synch with the console seperatey.
Also what would happen when you're being lazy and laying down with the controller on your stomach trying to play a game like Worms one handed?

Well, the extra vibrator could be a problem on the battery life, but they could still be attached to each other like the nunchuck is to the Wii remote. Even better, it could have a way to lock the two controllers together into one if you didn't want to use them separate.
Obviously that's not being very realistic, but one can dream...

Oh so a cable between them is fine? Okay then, that would make it a lot easier, locking the controllers together could be a simple sliding lock system like you get on bags, you'd just need a bit of empty space and some spot on the controller to press to release it

I was surprised to hear of the Castlevania: Harmony of Despair announcement. (360 only) It's good to see that they're still doing 2D, but I can't even begin to count the amount of money that I've spent trying to keep current with the Castlevania series. First it was on Nintendo systems, then a number of Sony consoles, then the GameBoy Advance, the Nintendo DS, then PSP, and now 360. This is ignoring a number of other systems too. I wish they'd go multiplatform and stay there. :(
Overall, this is the most exciting E3 that I've seen in years. Most others, I've found to be rather average.

1. Sony - They actually interested me in the PS3, and that wasn't the case before. The Move impressed with the movement detection it has, and by pricing it they trumped Microsoft. Lots of exclusive extra content for PS3 versions of games, too.
2. EA - Showed more actual game footage (not cutscenes) than anyone else. Very few down notes in their entire event.
3. Microsoft - Barely over Nintendo. Kinect looks good, but the lack of price and release date info is not good. Some good games shown early in the show. New 360 is nice.
4. Nintendo - Showed very little actual game footage at all. Zelda was a disaster, and the Wii looked even worse when Move was showcased. Didn't give any price info on 3DS, and I wonder if the lack of games to show off for it is an indication of how little is close to being ready. Also, Reggie Fils-Aime annoys the fuck out of me...he just comes off like a condescending douche.
5. Ubisoft - What a train wreck. Started well with Children of Eden and new Assassin's Creed. Then that weird Dhaun White game...and laser tag...and breathing exercises...and an exact word for word repeat of the fitness game presentation from the MS show. And then they finish by announcing a Michael Jackson game...and show 6 dancers do a badly choreographed routine and no game footage at all.
