Enebias: Damn, I missed Spelunky. In my country, it appeared so late at night that it could have also been very early in the morning! :)
My bad, I will pick it up another day. I am satisfied, anyway, as I bought quite a number of oldies that I never played back at the time.

Clerish: Italy here ;)

I set the alarm to 6 am and when I woke up and bought it there were about 40 minutes on the timer, so yes, it must have appeared around 4-5 am.
When I click buy it had about 30 seconds left on the timer and it was around 5:45 GMT. I just woke up opened my laptop and there it was :P I just hastily clicked buy and hibernated system cos I got to go to work. I actually finished the buying process at 7:30 GMT

Yeah, I remember :)
In fact, it was around 6:45 (GMT+1) here when the sale finished. You were lucky then! ;)

Your time is my time (I'm from Poland so also GMT+1) I'm just used to using GMT time on worldwide forums ;-)

Crosmando: Insomnia's "thing" was that it was a "scarcity" of discounted games, once they were all gone you couldn't get that discount again (until whenever they went on sale next I guess), so in that case it wouldn't have made sense.
avatar
PaterAlf: Exactly the same thing here. Except that the discounted games weren't limited in quantity, but in time.

And I don't want to know how many people would be pissed, who stayed up for hours to get a certain deal, if all the deals would return for the whole weekend.
The Insomnia promo did repeat though, if I recall correctly even several times. So if you missed a game the first time you still had a chance to buy it in the next round.

And if GOG were worried about people being pissed off, they should have done from the start what crosmando suggests here. I bet this promo has been a big success for GOG, and probably a bigger success than it would have been if they hadn't created all this buzz by making it a 24/7 event. But sadly creating a big buzz to sell more games and draw more people in isn't always the same as being fair and customer friendly, and that's the trait I value most in GOG. I want them to grow and be successful, but not at the expense of customer friendliness.

TBF, it is a fine line to walk. Just about any sales gimmick will piss off some people yet they need the gimmicks to get media attention, tempt new customers and make all the monies. GOG does have a slight history of misjudging where the balance between these two things is but I think in this case it wasn't so bad.

That's not to say there aren't things I think they should have done better but all things considered I'm quite zen about it at the moment. I'll rage later when I'm more drunk.
high rated
To be honest, I can't understand all the people who complain about the sale being unfair, because they missed a deal. I did miss some too (e.g. Gothic), but why should I care about it. It was just a sale and the next one will be right around the next corner. Be a little patient and you will get the game you want for the same discount (or even cheaper) in the future. And if you can't wait that long, just ask around. Many people bought extra gift codes and will be willing to trade them or give them away.

A sale is just a marketing gimmick and no one should take it too serious (in a way that he/she feels anger or hate just because of a missed deal).

Well said, exactly my sentiment :-)
Who of you played anything what bought in sale? Or just increased yours backlog:)

I did not play a thing but I surely will change that in near future like in 2 hours just after work ;)

I've downloaded and installed one but haven't played it yet. Hey, it's a first step right?
I bought Wiz6+7 pack.
I already had a few titles that were offered.

I did consider buying at least 2 more, but ultimately, decided backlog was massive enough at 14 years waiting time....
Now I'm having regrets with this sale. I had the oportunity to buy Deus Ex for around 20 minutes and I did not buy it. I did buy a few other games in the sale (mainly The Witcher) but the most important one just simply passed me by. Oh well, things like that happen.
