Fever_Discordia: Cannon Fodder is a fine game and a fine choice - Sensible Software and John Hare FTW! But as a fellow Brit I would seriously dispute whether CF is "unquestionably better known than" here than Syndicate, MoO, Myst or 7th Guest - right up there and in the same bracket maybe but not better known and certainly not 'unquestionably' - I'm questioning it right now! proves it! :-D
That is fair enough, I was just using hyberole for the sake of it - I actually didn't think it would be taken literally at that point.

For Myst I just meant in 1993 where it was only on Mac, but for some of the other games I knew nobody on a computer science course where we shared lectures with game development students etc who knew Gabriel Knight or 7th Guest (I am an adventure game fan so I introduced them) but they knew about Cannon Fodder when they came around and saw my Amiga (they asked to play it) and it was even mentioned in their lectures later.

I think there's not much sense debating the validity of GOG's "choices", when said choices are limited by the publishers (who have to agree that their game participates in such a sale).

GOG will have reached out to the publishers of the games they believed to be most successful in such a sale. It's unlikely that all publishers have agreed to put their games in an experimental, unproven sale format which also necessitates a high discount. GOG will then have looked at the permissions they received, and wrapped them up to the best package they can make. This probably includes shifting the years a bit here and there.

So what exactly is the merit of discussing whether GOG "should have offered" a different game for a given year?

Guys.. is the price valid after I click "buy now", but not process order? I mean when buying >1 game will it keep its *nice* price so I will processed them later together? I've had a bad surprise with last Fallouts gifts already..

Enebias: It seems I missed Wizardry. Unfortunately, a man needs to sleep! Maybe it will turn up again sometimes...

Likely not. The price should change back to the normal price once the next game goes on sale.

mabrookes: It was released in 1995 on Windows when it became massive not 1993. It was released in 1993 on Mac (with a tiny market share in 1993).

I was not at any point discussing popularity sorry if you mistook my intention..
Myst was released on PC in March of 1994 and had sold 500,000 copies total by January 1995 while Cannon Fodder had sold 100,000 copies. And my original comment was just that I was surprised they chose the less popular game. They can pick whatever they want. I was just saying I was surprised at the choice of a game I had never heard of. That's all. I guess you interpreted my surprise to be something more negative. You then replied to my comment and talked about the popularity of Myst. When discussing popularity, yes I would say something being well-known in the US should be taken into account.

This is now way off-topic so I'll leave it at that.

That's what I meant too. The price in your cart should update to the normal price once the sale of that particular game ends and the next one starts.

Crusader also seems like a strange pick for 1995 compared to the games for 1995 you mentioned before - Descent, HoMM 1 etc. actually, thinking about it...

We haven't considered limits GoG may have on sales in some way for certain games thinking about it - games that are limited to; sales at certain times, so times many within a time period or only by a certain percentage that may be below what they want for this sale etc.

Edit: Or just not allowed to be on sale at all, no idea if any publishers demand this or not.

Just my luck, I would've bought Cannon Fodder if I hadn't been sleeping. Is there still no sign of any repeats happening at the end of the promo?
1996 Tomb Raider 1+2+3 @ 11:02am GMT $1.99 -80%

Edit: forgot % and year

I'm really hoping they'll do a backwards loop. After all a, Time Machine that only goes forwards is just like a regular machine. :P
I need to sleep but I will miss the next few years.
