I keep hearing about Blackthorne being available as a free download from Battle.net, but I don't see it there. All I have are Warcraft 3 + expansion, Diablo 2 + expansion and Starcraft 1 + expansion.

Is there some trick to it, or is it regionally restricted?

Here. Not sure how you access said page from your account, I recall I did find it when it was mentioned, even without recalling my account info.

Heh. It's regionally restricted after all. I was on the EU Battle.net, where it's not available to download.

Thanks for that.

Can I visit you? Just kidding. (:
If past behavior is any indication, we're more likely to see Blizzard give away Diablo 1 for free on their own website rather than allow a third party to sell it. It hasn't been possible to buy D1 new since it got removed from the Diablo bundle over a decade ago, although you can still find copies floating around on Amazon.

DRM probably isn't the issue. Blizzard may be draconian with their newer titles, but they distribute DRM-free installers for their older games and have, in fact, patched out what DRM used to be there (anything pre-WoW now just has a serial key).
I see it in Blizzard Legacy page but how to get it.. No clue!!

Edit : Add this

At the end of the URL to access the page, it seems to remove itself as one click the link.

Blizzard has discontinued every game prior to Starcraft 1, and does not sell them in any form.

The only way to get those games legitimately is to hunt down a second-hand copy on Amazon.

MaridAudran: Foolishly, I let my legitimate, bought-and-paid-for disc copies of Diablo & Hellfire get thrown away or otherwise lost years back after I'd put them to rest after getting burned out on the game. But of course, nostalgia strikes, and lo, you couldn't conceive it at the time you thought you were just shorning yourself of excess belongings; books, music, movies, games you had no further use for or interest in.
Amen. The list of books that I have (re)bought multiple times is frankly stunning. One would think I have learned, but no, I continue to binge-and-purge my various collections.

I do still have my Diablo and Hellfire CDs, though. One of the few things I haven't purged is my collection of older games on disc. The boxes for all of them are long gone, but the discs remain.
