Wonder if I can still get hold of the CE.

FAButzke: Do you think that all classes are just a mish mash of previous classes?
No - I think people who say that have impoverished imagination.
You could create any class, ANY CLASS imaginable, whether taken from D&D or even invented of the spot. As long as it even remotely fits the setting (that is: so such classes as "hacker", "jet pilot"), there's going to be this guy who looks at the mechanics of it, generalizes the hell out of them and points to the spectrum of things he knows, as a source.

I once heard that "basically - nothing new has ever been said since Plato. Everything afterwards is just a rehash". If you take this at face value, you end up with a conga line of slight similarities between things and can nonchalantly claim that "X is just Y", except from all the things that make X different and ones which only fit Y.
I could claim that Minecraft is basically Tetris and no sane person would agree with this statement in the literal sense. Yet - somehow there are people who sincerely believe that as long as there is a class mainly dealing ranged damage in both games, they are somehow connected, like a goddamn new incarnation.

So - no, I think such reasoning is misguided and pointless.

I think you overreacted.
My opinion was based on gameplay videos only and could change as I play the game. So it's not a fact. I just think the classes have this in common with previous classes. No need to get aggressive over that.

Monks are holy warriors who have auras and use assassin weapons.
Witch Doctors have curses and summons minions.
and so on.

That's the impression the videos gave me.

Correctly so. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Wizard = D2 Druid

Don't I always ^^ ?
Seriously - there's a limited set of ideas that annoy me and if I find one, it usually "pushes me past the border" and I decide to post. Please don't take it personally.

Nonono... That's irrelevant. What you said is almost certainly "true" but only in a certain paradigm. I'm not saying you are wrong - quite the opposite. I merely encourage you... not to think this way.
If you stare at a marble wall (or an ink blot) long enough, you may notice patterns resembling what you already know. You could ask whether they ARE THERE or are you MAKING THEM be there and there would be no easy answer... If you, for instance, perceive your current girlfriend as pretty much you ex (give or take), it's not that much a matter of it being true or false, it's a perspective / paradigm / way-of-looking that she may find offensive. So (to use somewhat awkward vocabulary, as I so often enjoy to do) - love your demon hunter for who she is and don't project the (fond or otherwise) memories of you assassin or amazon.

Nope, not going to either. I don't want an MMO/DRMed-to-hell game.
Pre ordered the collectors edition from amazon awhile back.

No problem. And I like your explanation. Except that I don't have anything against the "mish mash" at all =)
While I think that all classes have elements of previous classes, I don't mind it.
In no way I was trying to say that this kind of thing is "unoriginal" or "uninspired" or something like that. I will, of course, play the game first and then make up my mind about this.

Nooooooooo......!!!!
Hope you all bought soft felt padding for your left mouse buttons.
Pre-loaded here and waiting, got it with my WoW annual pass. I love the story from the first two but honestly not sure if I would have shelled out the cash this time (even though I technically did).

Is that for protecting the fingers, or the mouse? :P
