just went and saw the movie, it's actually really good.

I read that fans of the TV show were all pissed that it was gonna be a comedy, but the funny parts were more situational than gag driven. everything just worked and there were more than a few parts where shit did get dark.

... sad that Johnny Depp actually did make for a more manly vampire than what has become the norm.

I really want to see this. I didn't realize it was based on some cult classic soap from ages ago, but Depp looked like he was giving his best in the previews and that's usually worth watching.

Yeah, I read that it was a pet project by several of them. I'm glad to hear it turned out. I don't generally see movies like that in the theater but I might just make an exception this time.

That's good news, when I saw the preview was I thinking, "Oh, good lord this is gonna suck" :(

Either way I was gonna see it anyway, I figured I'll either be pleasantly surprised or I can mentally give it the MST treatment just like I tend do with the original.

I loved this show as a kid. We were not "supposed" to watch it but I would sneak off after school and watch it all the time. If you have Netflix they have the whole series.

The missus was left a bit unsure by it (mostly the ending)...
