I recently ordered a COWON J3 after looking around and getting lots of recommendations, and am now waiting in pant-creamingly intense excitement, since i haven't had an mp3-player in 2-3 years!
The choice was mostly made because of the sound quality they should have(and because i don't want an ipod), and i just wanted to see if any of you guys have COWON mp3-players or have tried them.
I went for sound quality too, in my case a Creative Zen X-Fi. Never regretted it.
Thought this was one of those spam threads with the media conversion things. *sigh of relief*
Maybe I'll buy one after this weeks paycheck.

yeah i was actually looking for a Creative Zen X-Fi, because i've had Creative before and it sounded awesome, but the stores here only have ipods X-(
and when i had to order online i thought i might as well go for something new(in this case brand spankingly new and shiny :P)

What's so good about this particular brand?

Got a Creative Sleek and Zen Nano Plus . . . both had much better sound when I compared them to the iPods available at the time . . .plus FM, record, software etc . . . no regrets as well.

1) It's not bloated with junk you will probably never use. It's a Music, Picture and Music player and that's it.
2) The Shuffle actually works unlike the iPod's.
3) The Zen X-Fi2 plays FLAC files.
4) Drag and drop, no need for iTunes.
5) It's small.
6) Memory can be expanded with SD cards.
7) Onboard X-Fi chip provides 24-bit upmixing and 3D surround.
8) It actually comes with a decent pair of earbuds.

Hummn . . . looks like it's time for me to upgrade my players . . . =)
Edit: the SD card was the most interesting part.

Searches Amazon for a cheap one. =)
but hasn't Creative gone really down hill the last couple of years? i checked three electronics stores in town and all i found was a single one of those tiny ones, same size as an ipod shuffle, and none of those stores expected to restock on creative anytime soon :/

Delixe can probably answer that better than me since my players are several years old, hence my interest in this thread . . . time to upgrade. Circuit City was the only place I knew that sold Creative although Amazon seems to carry the whole line. Still, might not ship to your locale and I would want to listen before I bought another . . . =)

that's the thing, amazon won't ship anything except books to my country, so i had to look through all the third-party sellers to be able to buy the COWON :( and ofcourse it ended up costing 30 pounds more!!(shipping-rates were good though, thank god :p)

I've said it before about Creative. They make absolutely top notch hardware. The trouble is they only have Bubbles the chimp writing the software. I use drag and drop as there is no way I would let Creatives own Zen suite anywhere near my PC.
