I'd like it if you've still got it.
So, I've never played any of the Civ games, but I do see plenty of threads on 4chan raving about SMAC, and posting amusing anecdotes and the like. What would you do to convince someone who's never played a Civ game? I do like strategy games, both computer and traditional, but I've never played any computer game more complex than your standard RTS or HOMM.

I don't have it anymore because you have it! Check your PM
This really is a game that everyone who is even vaguely interested in TBS should play.
Thank you very much Ghorpm.
I feel a bit greedy as I was planning on buying it anyway.
I had been holding out for Alien Crossfire to arrive here, but at this price, how could I resist.

If you still don't have it, watch this thread in about half an hour or so....
God, I love this community. :)
Nice! and to think there aren't any official moderators, you guys keep on being awesome.

PS: Mission accomplished:p everyone got +1 rep

Thanks :) I love turn based games and I was on the fence about buying it when I saw this thread.
If you have ever enjoyed a 4X game even the slightest you SHOULD play Alpha Centauri. It's simply the pinnacle of that genre during its hey day. Even if it was released today with modern graphics it would be a top notch 4X game.
It's the only 4X game I think got everything right.

Don't worry about it being futuristic. The setting is not that far from our current technological level and the technologies you research, the descriptions of them and the movies you get when you build a wonder is so well done that they look like they're taken from real history.
Many of the technologies are things that scientists are thinking about already and making plans for.

Also the subplot regarding planet is well written. Adds tons to the atmosphere and brings the story/world/universe to life.

Edit: Whoops. Seems like I'm late to the party. :P

That would make it 10 copies of Alpha Centauri given... wow, that's awesome!

Anyway! Have a nice time playing your games! I'm leaving since I have to get up at 4.15 AM. It was truly an amazing evening
