CD Projekt RED and GOG.com Special Event: 18 October 2012 at 18:00 GMT

New Games, New OSes, Cyberpunk® Announcements, and Something Special for Witcher 2 Modders--and more!--will all be announced at this live webcast Special Event.

The developers of The Witcher franchise CD Projekt RED studio and GOG.com the DRM-free, digital distribution platform will host a Special Event on the 18th of October at 18:00 (GMT). The whole event will be streamed online on facebook.com/thewitcher or www.gog.com.

During the conference the developer studio will announce the official name of their futuristic new IP, based on the classic pen & paper RPG Cyberpunk®. More exclusive details about the project will be shown.

Not only console and PC users should tune in for the conference. Mac Computer users should be prepared for a bunch of thrilling announcements including more information about the upcoming release of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for OS X.

Speaking of new operating systems, GOG.com will also be announcing that it is bringing the best PC games from throughout history to a new operating system. That’s not all of the news that GOG.com has planned for the Special Event, however: they will also be showcasing several new releases as well as giving gamers a unique chance to get some of the greatest classic games ever made for a literally unbeatable price.

Remember – the live stream from the CD Projekt RED and GOG.com Special Event starts October 18th, 18:00 (GMT). See you then!

bazilisek: If it's Windows 8, I'll piss myself laughing.

Wishbone: Yeah, that would be quite a PR fail.
But PR fails are part of their PR strategy! (<3 you GOG)

And actually, it's not a bad thing if they officially support win 8. It would be kind of bad if they didn't. But it's not the kind of thing people hope for when they hear 'new OS', apparently. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised, nor disappointed if it turns out to be Win 8.
Looking forward to the news :D

Oh... and please! Let us watch the video in low quality without it going back to high quality!

Adzeth: Maybe they'll start putting original DOS installers into their DOS game releases.
...as that new OS support :p
Well, at least in the MS-DOS days you didn't have the goddamn internet distracting you at every opportunity from finishing games, because all you could go back to was a black screen
Maybe they are talking about the special Android version for the new OUYA console that will be out...Sometime...!
Oh sweet!
REVIVE OLD MMORPGS LIKE ULTIMA ONLINE AND EVERQUEST 1 AND NEVERWINTER NIGHTS AOL WITH GOG SUPPORTED SERVERS!!!

....or just announce Rainbow Six Rogue Spear and Raven Shield complete and I will be happy.
The new operating system will be... Linux?

Nope! Windows 8...

Witcher 2 is coming to OSX, my wager is on the new OS being OSX so they can distribute their game here. I know project Eternity is partnered with GOG for distribution for windows, they need someone for mac and linux too, so mac support will help them there as well.

I don't think we'll get Linux until the Witcher is ported to that. :-)
Or, eh, Mac OS X? :-) After all, DOSBox is cross-platform and WineSkin can cover quite a lot of ground as their own "port" of Witcher on Steam shows...

Though I realize they mentioned the Mac in a seemingly separate thought in the paragraph prior to the "new OS" one...

@TheCycoONE D'aww, man, beat me to it!

You do know Ultima Online is still going right? Bioware-Mythic is still running it and I recall Everquest 1 is still going as well.
While we're dreaming, my ideal announcement would be that GOG are working with Codeweavers to support as many games as possible on OS X (and because everything goes in to mainline wine, this pretty much means Linux too).

fair enough about everquest 1 but I did not know about UO is still around kicking were find it?
Could be Linux the new OS?

Maybe.

In the entry, Witcher 2 for OSX is announced clearly, yes.
But the "New OSes" feature is refered enigmatically, so it wouldn't be the same.
Then it may be Linux.

GoG doesn't need to wait until Witcher 2 for Linux is ready to start releasing Linux games.
There are plenty Linux versions of indie games and some AAA+ ones.
