I started Blade Runner: The Theatrical Cut and 45 minutes later had to shut it off. The movie is too damn slow! I mean, the city is beautiful, but it's all moving at a snail's pace, and Harrison Ford's narration sort of annoyed me, like he was explaining the obvious.
Are the other versions any better than this, or am I just not the kind of person who can enjoy Blade Runner?

Directors Cut is the best. Remember its a post-modern film, the whole thing is about questioning what makes us human.
That idiotic narration is not in the Directors cut and the film doesn't assume you're thick. Watch that version, not the Theatrical Cut - its DUMP.

The Blu-Ray version has all the versions bundled... so you can watch them all and have a different experience.

I actually preferred the "Final Cut" version to the original "Director's Cut" version. It is also missing the stupid narration, but has additional scenes not in the first "Director's Cut" version.
It is a futuristic pulp detective story, like The Maltese Falcon set in the future, not an action flick. It is supposed to be cerebral, not flashy. That does mean that parts of it will be slow and dialogue filled, but not all of it.

My personal fave was the Director's Cut, mostly because I found it "deeper" than the other billion zillion versions out there.

After Red Dwarf Back to Earth parodying (blatantly copying even?) much of it I decided it was time to watch it... bought the final cut during the week and am yet to watch it. Plan to do so tonight... see if it lives up to the hype from many people over the years for me - and yes I enjoy slower cerebral movies.

No, not really. I've watched it dozens of times, and it's pacing is one of it's best features. There's always been a handful of people that find it slow. That's never been anything like my impression, however, and I've always wondered how they could possibly think that.
My personal belief isn't that the film is slow, just that a. people expect an action movie and b. American moviegoers have been bottlefed on fast-paced slam-bam movies.
Hey, if you don't care for it, and you've given it a fair, honest try, there's no shame in just not liking it :)
And the Theatrical Cut is shite, IMHO. Directors or Final Cuts are the only way to fly, mostly because of the the removal of that braindead studio-mandated narration and the silly ending.

Sounds like it's not my kind of movie, then. I was expecting an action movie, not a detective movie. Though I like many detective movies, I'm not a big fan of this one.

Final Cut is the best! I think... damn I think i love all versions -_-

But get the game! One of the best games there is!

I've only seen the Final Cut, even though I own the big briefcase DVD collection.

it has no action. Somone gets shot. there is a very short fight. The slow motion is part of the deamlike, film noir atmosphere.
its an amazing movie, but it doesn't sound like its your kind of movie...
i mean, the soundtrack is by Vangelis.... they make chill out music sound jaunty.

Yeah, I tried watching this but the music kept making me want to fall asleep.
