I don't think I've heard of those, but the slipstream 5000 video was cool. And the rest of your suggestions sound cool too. I'll have to make a list of racing games to get. hahah hhaa I like the burnout series a lot. I haven't actually bought one though, so I'll have to do that.

I'm a big racing game fan.

1) TOCA 3 (Or GRiD if you can run it)
2) Colin McRae 2005 (or DiRT if you can run it)
3) NFS:Shift
4) NFS Porsche Unleashed
5) Burnout 2 and up. (Burnout 1 was awesome, but not a racing game at all)

Personally I'd say AVOID FlatOut. Too hard to control and the AI is awful.

TMNF is so cool. It's stunt racing with no opponents (or at least no physical opponents), which takes a bit of getting used to, but it's damned fun to play. There's a shitload of tracks included, you can download fucktons more, and if you're up for it, you can make your own and share them with others. You've got loops, jumps, dirt, all sorts of cool stuff. There are tons of active servers all over the world, and loads of players. And it doesn't require an Alienware machine to run.

Death Rally is a true classic. It's oldschool top-down racing with machine guns, mines, and several cars to buy and upgrade during your hunt for the top of the ranking list.

I've already played Death Rally, and it was alright. Trackmania doesn't run for me.

Interstate '76 doesn't really work at all due to major compatibility issues, so it would always be best putting at the bottom of the list.

How is this not on GoG already? I must admit that before I just got around to adding that to my wishlist. If for no other reason than it was the first racing game I can remember taking the vehicles off the track. Some of the intended shortcuts were pretty brilliant as well. I'll definitely need to find my copy.

Did you use a PS type controller or kybd/mouse? I used the Logitech PS-style controll and while not perfect, once tweaked I had no problems at all. And I'm a very casual racer, not a pro by any means. Have not tried a wheel, but that would be even better, I'm sure.

First time you go through the wind-shield, you have to laugh. ;) (And the mini-games are truly fun and fairly easy to play.)

Anyway...might depend on your setup, I guess.

Lotus III - The Ultimate Challenge. Well, when they will release it here on GOG.com :-P

I used a variety of controllers, mostly gamepad though. The physics were actually pretty good, the AI was horrific though. It lets these ridiculous drivers somehow get really close to you, and they will completely take you out if you try to do things like brake at corners.
