Rohan15: I fixed that issue. I just drove backwards and ran him off the road until he let me go back to playing Mortal Kombat 2 or Lufia on SNES.
hahaha that's awesome.

It's weird, but I recently got the desire to play racing games.
Do NOT get Megarace 3. I bought it during the racing games special for $3 and couldn't stand it. I wasn't a fan of Flatout, but many people really like it. Screamer is fun. Haven't played any of the others.

Tyler62092: Thanks for the input, it's going towards the bottom now :P
Okay, but you're missing out. :)

Thanks for the input! What was bad about Megarace 3?

ahh I'll get it eventually though! And it isn't right at the bottom, and not even near the "maybe probably not" section for Megarace 3.

So far my list is like this:

FlatOut
Interstate '76
1nsane
Megarace 1+2
Screamer
Driver: Parallel Lines
Megarace 3
Allow me to recommend a couple that are not on GOG.
Death Rally
Trackmania Nations Forever

Both games are free, by the way :-)

Thanks, I was thinking about Trackmania Nations Forever too, but I didn't know about Death Rally.

Does anyone know if there's a racing game with an actual story, and a good one?
My experience with racing games is that your just a car racing, and there aren't really any characters or anything.

Codies try to put a little emphasis on story their racing games, like GRID, DIRT and DIRT 2. There isn't a huge story in them, but it's at least it' there. But you need a good rig though, if you haven't got the hardware to back it up, the experience will be lessened.

Also if you like street racing, try NFS Most wanted. It's by far the best in the street racing NFS series. The characters are colourful and slightly whacky, which goes with the storyline. If you want your racing a little more serious, I recommend NFS: Shift, which is my current favourite racer. Again, having good hardware helps since crashing in the game, whilst in the interior view, is amazing.

Great, thanks for that. Need For Speed is a lot of fun.
I haven't played any Codemasters games yet, but F1 2010 and GRID got my interest, even though I know my computer won't be able to play it.
If you can find these; Collen MCree rally 05 and TOCA 3 racing. They are very good driving/racing simulators. Probably some of the best. TOCA 3 has has a wide variety of racing types.

I look for them, thanks!

I got Interstate '76 because of it being $3 this weekend :D

Have fun! :)
TOCA 3, but you can't buy it here anymore. :(

I liked Need for Speed Shift a lot also.

And there's Need for Speed World which is free.

Add another vote for Flatout -- it's a very fun racer and easy to just pick up and play. And as someone already said, the mini-games are a blast in themselves.

The racing part is a lot of fun and easy to get into -- not super hard. Bang for the buck, it's hard to beat. I also bought Interstate 76 and Toca 3 here.
Big Red Racing. I <3 that game to bloody bits.

Also: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-SLIP5K/slipstream-5000 <--- I used to play this quite a fair bit when I was younger, and I really loved it.

The Flatout series are also loads of fun. Interstate 76's racing levels aren't the highlight of the game, but nevertheless its a great game.

Oh I forgot to mention: Rocket Jockey. That is an instaaaaaabuy if and when it comes out on GOG.

Addendum: Stunts is also a very fun game, even though most of the fun comes from building insane tracks rather than the racing itself.
