Hello all!

Perhaps some of you recall a thread from a couple of months ago about PheonixWright coming to London. Well, he's here, so myself and wpegg are meeting him at the pub tomorrow for pints!

If any other Londoners would like to join us for the 1st Annual GOG Bender (tm), we're meeting tomorrow at 2pm at the Price of Wales Feathers in Bloomsbury.

Prince of Wales Feathers
8 Warren Street, London, Greater London W1T 5LD, United Kingdom
+44 20 7383 4849
http://www.theprinceofwalesfeathersw1.co.uk/

It's in Central London and literally about a 10 meter walk from Warren Street Station (Victoria and Northern lines). It's less than a 5 minute walk from Euston Square Station (Circle, Hammersmith and City lines). And if you fancy the Central line and don't feel like changing, it's about a 10-15 minute walk away from Tottenham Court Road Station.

Let me know if you're interested in coming and I'll PM you my number so that we can get in touch! Would be great see more of you!

edit: oh and as the website doesn't show everything, I should mention that the pub offers Blue Moon, Estrella, Kirin Ichiban, Kozel, Franziskaner from tap, as well as other fine lagers that I might have forgotten. Plenty more from the bottle. And it's a pub for real ale, so they have a wide selection for you if that's your pint of beer!

I would have loved to come, but won't for 2 reasons:

1) I HATE London!
2) I'm at work until 10pm & then have nearly an hours journey to get to London.

Hello!

Wish I was in the area, am not, but seem to recall a post back about a year or more about Goggers meeting in the UK.

Only bringing it up, as there were plenty trying to get things kicking, and if you can dig up the thread (you might remember,) you might get quite a few others.

Hope it works out great, and I*'ll have a drink in your honor from here (US.)
While I can't come (work 'til 12 noon - that's 11.00 for you - and it's a tad difficult getting from Norrköping to London in that time), I'll gladly have a bottle of Hobgoblin at your meeting time to join you spiritually.

Yes, it was this thread:

I'm not a huge fan of pubs but I do love beer. So there!
But accordingly, I do tend to pick nice pubs with nice beer and this one certainly isn't one to sneer at!

gameon: Anyone here Not like pubs? or traveling. I dont like either.
Pubs are ok, bars I don't like, depends on the people.

Traveling is a major pain now, so I avoid that, but otherwise might be fun; just order something non-alcoholic if you don't drink, say hello, and talk to some of the women (birds as I recall!) :-)

gameon: I like drinking, and i like women. I just dont like travelling or going to places full of random people like pubs/nightclubs.

One of my old workmates was at a christmas do a few years back. He got up to order more drinks, and someones glass was thrown. he got hit by the cross fire. It turned out that a couple got in an argument, and the woman threw the glass at her bloke. But this innocent guy got caught in the middle of it. Got hit in the face and had to have several stitches.

He tried to sue, but the judges didn't care, said it was just an accident.

And that is partly why i dont go to pubs.

Sorry if i sounded a bit blunt earlier, but its more of my problem, than a problem with you guys. I'm sure you'll have fun.
Makes sense, is why I rarely go to bars here.

Always someone that can't hold their liquor, acts stupid, and you waste the evening dealing with the miscreant instead of being able to enjoy. It ends hours later, with something you were trying to avoid, free drinks, and a wasted night.

I understand, but sounds like a nice place they are going. If closer, be glad to have a few and bs awhile :-)
Hm, anyone fancy coming to Prague?

I might have a Kozel to at least keep up the spirit. I think I have one or two bottles here.

Sounds good to me, have always wanted to visit there!
I wish you gentlemen a good time! I am too far away to come, but I sincerely hope you enjoy the meeting. :)

I have been there once. Probably around 10-12 years ago. Yours is a very nice city. Also it is Prague's fault I actually started drinking beer (hated it before that trip so much). And also nice and cheap (at that time) food. :)

Ah no, wait I have been there only last May.... at the airport making a transfer. :P

Hmm, I'd love to come. How far is it from Heathrow? If I find suitable train to get me to Prague and then connecting flight to London I might show up. I somehow doubt I will...

An hour from London? Are you one of my neighbours?
Bazilisek, if I didn't promise to my friend that I'll come visit her this weekend, I would come gladly.

Anyways, if I say to my boss that I need to take a day or two off (the earlier before the meeting, the better), I could come.

You can pretty much take the tube directly from Heathrow! Will take you about an hour and it costs as much as a pint! (not much)

Yes, I feel pretty much the same way as you, hence:
1) We're going tomorrow at 2pm. There will hardly be anyone there at that time and if there are, I know plenty of other nice pubs in the area.
2) This is a nice pub, in a nice area. I've lived in the area for 6 years now and it is very civilised and I have never, ever witnessed even the slightest hint of violence in a pub here. And I'm a regular pubgoer. This side of Bloomsbury is a very commercial area and most patrons are in suits. Up the road is obviously the West End, but that's equally nice. No trouble here whatsoever.
3) It's interesting that he couldn't sue. There is a precedent on this with virtually identical facts, R v Savage.

Conclusion: Do come along, it will be pleasant!

gameon: I'm afraid i cant anyway. Hundreds of miles to get to london, and i dont drive. Would cost a bomb in petrol for starters!
Ah, well anyway this is the 1st Annual GOG Bender (tm) so an earlier summons will be sent next year!
