I have purchased this game via GamersGate, but their DRM inflicted heavy slowdowns on bigger maps. So only solution is to go to developer's forums - there is special thread about what to do if you have problems with GG or Amazon version of games and they will simply give you download link to DRM-less exe file and working key for this version of game.

His demo versions include the raw .exe and lack the key to unlock the full game, can't you just use that and paste in your key?

If the game is running poorly, I'm sure spiderweb will help you out. If however, you just don't like the DRM you got, I'm guessing they won't help you out...But I'm not sure (worth a try maybe)...here is I think the thread fix-cz may have been talking about...I'm not sure though:

He didn't do the usual method with Avadon, as far as I know.

Amazon/GG keys will not work with demo version (they will not activate it) as it uses different activation system

Hello, i played some Geneforge games and Avernum 6. Grafic wise all games are roughly the same. The ui does its job but nothing much more. The gameplay is quite good, you could invest some time in character builds, leveling and exploration.

Directly opposed to Avadon The Black Fortress. It has the same 'bad' grafic ui with slight improvements, but misses exploration, skill system and character build factors of its predecessors. It has nothing to do with Avernum or Geneforge anymore, but the developer name behind it.

To describe it in short terms, its like dragon age with an ancient grafic engine. You play predefined characters with fixed classes and three skilltrees for each. There is the warrior, the assassin, the mage and the shaman (healer) class. You can go different skill trees, but your choices are few. You can spent 1 skillpoint per levelup. Most skills are for dealing damage without much other purpose, so you go for the most damaging or healing skills as you see fit. Quite boring in direct comparison to the deep and complex skill system of avernum or geneforge. Ah and there is straight romance.

The story was quite interesting, as you and your party is working for the evil overlord of the land. You can ursupate and inherit him, oppose him and destroy/damage Avadon or work
for him to strenghten his power. Your choices do only influence the game's endings not the gaming world.

My 2 cents about the Avadon:
The game is not so bad, its quite nice for storylovers. But not for rpg enthusiasts, that enjoyed the predecessing series Avernum and Geneforge. The developes seems to aim for a different kind of customer with his new Avadon game developing style. I do not think that many of his old customers appreciate this decision. Vogel said that Avadon represents his new style of game developing. Thats good for him. Have fun. Earn a shitload of cash from new customers that actual like your new style. Your new games are just not for me. When i need storyfaq and romancing i can play dragon age or baldurs gate 2 to my hearts content.

Mind telling me what kind of DRM Amazon downloads use? Never bought a downloadable title from them and I'd like to know.

Started playing this this week fully after onwing it for a while and am into it pretty hardcore so far. Seems a bit too easy at times but the boss types are generally pretty amusing.

What difficulty are you playing on?

Normal. I considered switching to hard but have seen a lot of people say it picks up quite a bit so I'll just wait it out I think.

No DRM that I know of other than it makes you install the Amazon Games Downloader.

Might end up playing hard when I get around to starting it then. Btw, I messed around a bit in the demo previously and the loot system seemed kinda weird with opening the inventory and seeing stuff on the ground. When does that stuff change?
