I've got Dark Souls for the 360 right now, but I'd LOVE the PC version. However, I'm not buying it if it has ANY DRM at this point -- Why would I when I can just pop the console version in without having to ask permission to play it?

With GOG getting a few launch-day games and fairly new PC releases lately (like Alan Wake, which I picked up the second I found out it was available here), is there any chance at all that we may be able to get a GOG version of Dark Souls?

So I suspect there is no love lost between Namco and GOG's owners and it seems Namco is not a fan of the DRM-free model.

Every indication is that this is going to be a lazy PC port, and GFWL facilitates that since Namco gets to keep using the Xbox Live netcode. For them to remove GFWL would require them to make some effort and write brand new netcode, which doesn't seem likely.

We'll see. There's no consensus on what actually makes a game "a lazy port", for some people the lack of mouse support in Devil May Cry 4 was enough to label it as such... Effort? Re-writing the netcode would take a lot of time & effort, and thus money. Taking advantage of what GFWL offers makes perfect sense.

While your answer is most certainly correct, GFWL won't be the reason. The Japanese publisher will be. And they are not going to want to sell the game in Japan. Especially not at the prices GOG would be happy with.

I am planning to get it either on Steam or Gamersgate. But if GOG got it I would GLADLY get it here. In any case, it is my yearly day one purchase. Again.

i doubt it will be on GoG becuase there has to be DRM due to the online component.
