Since GoG is doing such a good work recovering old games, I was wondering if there are any future plans of making some of these games to work for Android systems too.

For instance, I've seen several versions of Heroes of Might & Magic for Symbian, Windows Mobile or even Android phones but none of them is the original with the known scenarios and opera music.

Will they be able to transfer the entire magic in the palm of our hand?

Highly unlikely - GOG don't port games, they just make them compatible with modern Windows PCs. For them to run natively on handsets would require porting of the sourcecode.

In theory quite a few games should work on Android phones et al with a bit of tweaking, via DOSBox or ScummVM. I would hate to think of the performance and control issues though, last time I tried, DOSBox on a phone it was nigh on unplayable.

Beyond that, I doubt it's easy.
Unfortunately I doubt it as that would require an entire rewrite of the source code etc or another form of emulation (For a lot of games GOG just uses DOSBOX and SCUMMVM). They'd also need to get the licenses for those platforms and given the diverse nature of the phones etc running on android, and the numerous versions of the OS, I think it'd have too much potential for people complaining because it's not compatible with their phone's architecture.

There is however a working ScummVM port on Android which you might want to look up if you'd like to play games like Broken Sword, Discworld 2 & Beneath a Steel Sky on.

I thought Android Dosbox was as good as dead? It had terrible performance as well, far worse than it should have had - a 1Ghz CPU should be ample to run the oldest games yet even that was not possible at a decent speed.

I don't know, I just figured it should exist and looked it up quickly.
I know about the SCUMMVM version for Android, but it's not compatible. I've already tried Full Throttle , Day of the Tentacle and The Dig and they have full screen issues, uncontrollable zoom and touch screen problems.

I can only wait for a newer and improved version of ScummVM to play these games properly on Android.

The issue most likely stems from Android not having an x86 architecture. DOSBox works as well as it does on PCs because the actual architecture hasn't changed for the past 30 years or so - with a few exceptions, a brand new dualcore processor is capable of executing the same instruction set as a 386 processor from the early 90s.

Which phone (and version of android) are you running it on?, as I've played day of the tentacle, and Sam and Max(until I had to right click...) fine on my T-mobile pulse.

but that could be because it only has 320 x 480 res and android 1.5
I don't like touchscreens for point and clicks - whilst at first glance they'd seem like the ideal control method, one major thing is always overlooked - the ability to hover the cursor easily, which is nigh-on essential for some games that involve pixel hunting, and the smaller the screen, the harder this is. Some get around this by having toggle modes for it, but it's a bit awkward and clumsy.

According to code.google they're still working on it. The most recent patch was yesterday and there's been quite a few made this year.
